i really want to start no poo, but i need a few clarification

The truth about no poo is simply genetics. Some people can get away with no shampoo, some people can't.

It's worth giving a shot, could save you thousands of dollars in shampoo/conditioner throughout your life. Just maybe a pick a month (or two) where you'll have relatively less social contact in case no poo does not agree with your scalp type.

a detergent's a detergent. the only really significant difference between soap and shampoo is that shampoo is mixed with substances that decrease its pH, something that can be achieved by applying conditioner after the soap wash.

soap is in detergents along with many other things though. it does a lot of things apart from reducing the pH. soap lacks a lot of things that can provide strength and nourishment for hair. it's too harsh.

and personally I wouldn't wash my hair with dish washing detergent. at the moment I only use conditioner when my hair and scalp get gross, so once every 1.5 weeks ish. looking at picking up a shampoo as well.

You could use half a tin of product in your hair everyday for your whole life and you wouldn't have any more chance of balding than someone who doesn't use product.

Product doesn't penetrate the scalp deep enough to damage the roots. Excessive product will damage the quality of hair however.
