Florshein Edgar ($115) vs Allen Edmond Park Avenue ($345)

Which one is a better value? They look almost identical.

You didn't answer the question of which is a better value or why.

>> No.6193901

If you saw them in person, you'd realize instantly the difference in quality.

Florsheim has been shit for a long time, and was always inferior to AE, who have only recently begun to slip in standards.

Anyway I can tell from these pictures alone that the Florsheim suffers from a lack of that goodyear welt, an ugly strip of leather paneling down the heel, a thinner leather with a cheap-looking texture, a slightly squared-off toecap versus the AE model, and a weird painted sole.

That said, neither one is a good choice for a casual shoe. Black leather oxfords are better suited to the workplace than the street.

One is clearly made of better quality materials (hint: Allen Edmond). But who cares? Certainly not anyone out of this board.

Forgot my pic: Why would you want to resole this?

>> No.6193947

If by value you're taking longevity into account then the Florsheims will do just fine. If you care about quality in regards to materials and make, Allen Edmond will obviously better. If you don't care that much about shoes and you're price conscious just get the Florsheims, they'll be fine.

I didn't ask for a casual shoe. I'm starting an internship in finance.

I just found the AEs for 20% off, expiring in 7 hours. I think I'm gonna get them.

I'm a size 12 in Chucks. What size should I get?

>> No.6193958

>>6193937
Won't that happen to AE too?

I guess you'd be a size 12. There are shoes for abnormally large feet to be found as second-hand or surplus product ALL OVER ebay, though. Look there first.

Get a load of this fag

Nah, that sort of thing is more common in shoes that use binder leather.

No. AE are high quality full grain calfskin. Not that sort of shit they use on florsheim.

Get a little bit of shoecare product and your AE's will easily last you 15+ years.
