Are you planning on taking time off from college or just getting a part time job? I think for your life it is most important to stop college at the moment and take some time off. You always have the option of finishing college. Find something that you like doing or at least and area that you might enjoy still doing in the future.

You can still be successful while not going to college although it may be harder. I think it is important to focus on one area and develop skills so that you are specialized in something. Other than that, dealing with people will be a very important skill.

>>6187751
My mom didn't finish college. She makes 100-200k with benefits at a fortune 500 company. So it is not impossible to do well without a degree, it is just harder to get started, especially if you don't have one specific thing that you excel at.

try not to let college/jobs get you down. everyone is a fuck up, just go to work, make your money, and do something that will make you feel less like a fuck up in your spare time.

don't get down on yourself for playing video games or music or whatever other things people feel like adults shouldn't be doing. our entire generation is fucking up by previous standards just because we're smart enough to not immediately get married and have kids. That shit sucks, and I bet your parents were fucking up pretty badly while they were doing it.

tl;dr: you could get lucky and find a job you actually like, and I certainly don't mean that you should stop trying, just don't get so obsessed with it that what you do in your free time is worthless. It's going to be hard to get a job you like that actually pays you a decent wage. Don't worry about it, it's a chore. It's just another part of paying bills. not the anon you're asking, but the trade school I registered for cost ~$4k (tools, books, etc.) before scholarships for a 2 semesters course. After those semesters, you usually have a better chance at getting hooked up with good employers from what I can tell (the first day I went to the school, there were contractors there looking for people).

As far as school cost and pay go, it really depends where you live. I know that the trade school in miami was looking for $18k for the same course I'm going to take at a school in suburbs. After school you have to do the whole apprenticeship to journeyman thing for a couple years (on the job training basically), then the pay jumps to $45k/year after that. It all depends on different factors. Of course, the ultimate goal is to make +$100k with your own business. you have to do the research yourself though.

I'm glad I took a year to research all this shit for myself. I guess trade schools aren't prestigious enough for high schools to really care about educating their students about.

It's not that sad. Employers don't want to pay for a potentially shitty employee. Recommendations are some degree of reliability which outweighs self-reported x number of years of experience or a degree (which counts for nothing other than proving you're not a complete retard).

Makes me feel a bit shit though. I was amped up to apply to tech jobs before I apply to grad school in another city a few months ago. Lots of open positions that I "qualify" for, but I always have a fear that my internships haven't been enough or that my degree is worth shit. It feels like I bother professors with desperate pleas for experience and money. Aside from that, all the companies have automated application filtering that only forwards the top 10% of applicants to a physical hiring manager.

So in the end, my dad took over the reigns and ended up recommending me to his colleagues over there. Every time. I've never successfully managed to work through an internship that hasn't been arranged by him.

It amazes me at how many of you have shitty jobs. What amazes me more is how people talk about how much expensive clothes they buy yet they have shitty jobs that are reserved for immigrants & the dregs of society i.e. waiters, retail & baristas.

I just find it pathetic that there are so many people on here that pour coffee for a career and think it is acceptable, if it were me i'd be embarrassed. I actually did something with my life and joined the Army, feels pretty good to be able to look down on you people.

Oh god, STOP! My fucking sides! This damn anon!

But you didn't! Bwahahahaaha! This fucking guy! Jesus!

You're pathetic, man. You "career" or whatever you want to kill it, is bullshit compared to anything today -- hell, even garbagemen are more valuable than you running around pretending being important with guns and a "strict, hard and honest way of life". Hahahaha oh fucking god this is too good!

Earlier today, I was thinking /fa/ was about due for an army guy to criticize them. Thought about making the troll myself, but thanks for saving me the effort.
