Getting ready to buy a pair of Allen Edmonds Dalton boots, is there anything else I should consider before pulling the trigger?

>> No.6186746

Monitoring. I keep buying Bass boots but the soles wear out in like 2 months.

No. Daltons are mad nice. Similar boots that are just as nice are significantly more expensive

>> No.6186781

Don't be afraid to wear them.

Be an original, get some Tony Lama's

I'd go Eagle County before Dalton, personally.

Picture (belatedly) related.

Get some mink oil bro. It'll extend the lifetime of your boots by a shitload. And it'll prevent water marks. Also don't be afraid to get them scruffed up.

those are ugly as fuck

I hate how the sole is much bigger than the boot.
Is it just me?

>> No.6186825

>>6186811
Opinions, they of course also look significantly better without shit lighting.

>>6186816
It really isn't that much larger, the size of the welt is pretty normal.

>> No.6186835

No one suggested Iron Rangers yet? I'm impressed.

Yeah, many boots are like that.
Os there a reason for it? It's seen mostly in boots with rubber soles

It's just a method of welting that's strong and relatively easy. Not to mention it makes resoling a significant amount easier on your cobbler.

You can't compare IRs to these. They are much more casual

>> No.6187038

Try to save up for the shell corodvan ones. Look way nice without the wrinkles of calfskin, instead you the waves that cordovan gets. Also Alden has some wingtip boots as well if you want to have a competing choice.

do they come in black

No, but they come in chocolate.

>mink oil on a pair of Dalton
>scuffing up a pair of Dalton

Come on man, it ain't a pair of chippewa or iron rangers. OP, if you really want to, use spahir renovetur or venetian shoe cream to condition. Scuffing is ok, but buy a pair of shoe tree and good brushes for it. It's a dress boots, not a fucking work boot

Idk man, I rather buy a pair of Alden for that price. Is it really worth it to spend like 700 bucks on AE?

Could you guys recommend any shoes with a similar silhouette in the same price range as the Red Wing Postmans? I've been really digging them but I figure I should see if there's anything else I'd like with a similar sole first.
