I think it's fine. Nothing innovative and I hope Hedi hits his stride, but it's just a very luxe re-imagining of the girls and boys he's been photographing for a while now.

But in the end, my opinion has very little impact on the fact that it's selling incredibly well.

Yeah. Look at that cloak--it may not be a versatile piece but it's a wearable one. I could easily see some little nyc socialite buying that and wearing it over like a black sheath dress. Maybe Hedi's strategy is actually ludicrous styling on his runways--something which does get people talking about him--and buyable individual pieces.

I think that's where people are getting tripped up. I don't think he's trying to bring back Dior from the early 2000s, I think this is just his approach and it's probably only gotten more concentrated from him not designing anything for a while.

Perhaps he'll move out of this phase and experiment more as he did when he was in his "prime" at Dior, but it gets people talking, it gets buyers looking, and it gets customers spending, so it's hard to argue that he isn't achieving what he set out to achieve.

Oh it totally is.
But theres something about that thats kind of endearing in a weird way.
And the fact that they are good designs make that charm possible,even if they are rehashed.
Like theres just something kinda childish and charming about how he clearly wanted to emulate these like signifier of "rock" culture.
So his first instinct was "OH well have these tight clothes and beatles boots and and and the ad campaign will have BECK AND CHRIS OWENS! ooh ooh! and we can have Ty Segall play on the runway! that is so rock and roll right?"
