There was more style in this man's pinky finger than in your entire wardrobe, and he wasn't even trying.

Don't mistake the style and mystique of a vibrant and creative personality for fashion sense, but be aware that comfort and confidence go a longer way than many suspect.

Spearheading an artistic trend of some sort will also do wonders for your appearance.

kurt cobain specifically selected clothing that would give the impression of carelessness, rather than actually dressing without care or concern. the whole grunge scene does this, which is why they are dressed in shockingly similar outfits.

I think the problem is we will never be able to look at him objectively because his personal style has been so heavily lionized and appropriated by the fashion establishment and even independent designers at large that at this point it would be impossible to examine his choice in clothing without considering the massive impact it's had.

Personally, I kind of feel that he dressed exactly like everyone else at the time but was young and handsome and killed himself and so that made him a billion times cooler than everyone else and by proxy his wardrobe although very typical of the era became a touchstone for coolness.

Were Kobain's clothes ever cool or was it merely the circumstances surrounding them, the lore and legend that infused in them a mythical cool and otherworldliness that today is so often imitated. If he had gotten fat and ended up on a reality show instead of blowing his brains out would the face of fashion have changed forever as well?

he made that up as part of his character. he was briefly homeless after dropping out of highschool, this all happened nearly a decade before he was in nirvana though.

>>6157916
why are you so butthurt, and moreover, why does this information surprise you? kurt cobain's image was part of his statement, it was an active choice as an attempt to be anti-fashionable.

>> No.6158001

CHeap jeans, cheap sneakers, cheap construction worker flannels from dickies and thrift store sweaters.

This isn't anti-fashion, bro. This is how thrifty people who don't care about fashion and don't need to look nice for work dress.

Not giving a fuck about fashion is not anti-fashion. It's not a calculated move. It's just not giving a fuck about fashion.

the man dyed his hair. people who don't care don't dye their hair. he had an image in mind, and it happened to involve grungy thrift store clothing. he was specifically anti-fashion. he very much cared.

That had more to do with pissing off the establishment and rebelling against corporate yuppies than any attempt to create any sort of aesthetic.

A person can be conscious of their clothing choices and their appearance without caring about fashion.

while he was still writing music though, and it wasn't a decade before, it was during the early stages of nirvana when it was just krist and kurt. Also krist said he doubted that he lived under the bridge, just spent time there writing music, but he still confirmed that he slept in the hallways of apartment buildings during winter because they at least had heating. Doubt he had time to pick and choose his clothing like that faggot claimed when he was sleeping on a floor.
