Are Vans an /fa/-approved shoe? I need new shoes and I just want some normal but not horrible shoes. Also not expensive.

Also, any good tongue-less sandals?

I haven't paid attention to my fashion like ever. Right now I have Sperrys, and I'm sure you guys hate them. I hate them because they fell apart on me and hurt my feet .

Maybe something other than Vans then. Vans fall apart after like six months

I'm open to recs. According to the /fa/ shoe guide, I guess I'm looking for sneakers? Idk anything about shoes. I just want something casual.

The canvas sneakers are nicer than converse sneakers.

Im still not a fan.

my vans have been going strong for over a year
they're leather, not canvas, though
in fact i wish they would die so i can justify replacing them with something better

>> No.6136432

Vans are just very over rated. They're the go to shoe. The people who love Vans are the people who don't know any better or just don't care to look. I have a pair which I like but only because I'm broke.

So no, they're no /fa/.

>> No.6136467

>>6136432
So they aren't the absolute worst, but far from the best?

That's probably good enough for me. Unless there are some other sneakers that are good and cheap?

>> No.6136650

>>6136431
Yeah the leather is much better than the canvas in my experience, but Vans quality control is all over the place.

>> No.6136667

Stefan Janoskis are a decent alternative to Vans, and last much longer in my experience. Converse Chuck Taylors or Jack Purcells are also good, but some people don't like the toe cap. I've heard good things about Adidas Sambas, but haven't owned a pair.

>> No.6136678

Every fucking time I got my Vans on they look like sneakers.

wtf /fa/

Vans don't really fall apart though, but they get beaten to shit.
Somehow they hold together, though.

you can wear one pair of Vans everyday for 2 years before you have to throw them away.

I don't wanna make a new thread, but what are some good summer shoes? I'm looking at Some white leather Jack Purcells and some Sahara Topsiders. I know it's MFA as fuck, but what would be better?

I keep seeing Vans only laced to the 4th hole at bay area thrift stores with stuff like "I got grapes" written on them.

Lakai shoes are great (since people are naming more skate shoes)
Every pair I've had holds up for years. I had one fluke pair that magically ripped a seam after like 2 years and sent them an email and they sent me a free pair
