That's a pretty ignorant statement, really.

Fashion is a medium of art, and like all art there will be all sorts of different interpretations, bastardizations, lairs, genuines, people who get it, people who pretend to get it, and people who it's simply not for them.

It's just something that's there, and if you immediately brush it off as "always shallow" then you're just being close-minded.

it's about embellishing a hollow personality. with other media of art, you must have at least some understanding of the emotions on display or which emotions could produce such a work. fashion is emulation of pop culture personalities, stoic gloss sheet posers and covert capitalists. the barrier to entry is not an understanding of emotion or complexity, it is the closeness to which you relate or compare to these prototypes.
a piece of clothing could never convey what I'm thinking or feeling.

>it is the closeness to which you relate or compare to these prototypes.

more like it's the study of how fundamental shapes, colors, etc. affect the impression you give off to others based on your appearance

it'd probably help if you knew how to appreciate aesthetics rather than trying to view fashion from an irrelevant perspectives such as a medium for expressing emotion, which isn't actually the pinnacle of art imo

art certainly isn't the perception of the clinical intelligence or abstraction of aestheticism. I really should have acknowledged aesthetics in my previous post, and how defying aestheticism often makes for interesting art pieces.
i concede that fashion is about the manipulation of a tenuous and (often) fruitless first impression... is such vain, scientific self-awareness an important hobby to involve yourselves in?

basic fits would impress a 'common' image to a basic person and a bland image to a detail oriented person.
a more accentuated look would confuse or irritate a basic person and would delight (or infuriate) a detail-oriented person.
that's such a gamble! I can't wear emotive clothing, only prototypical, archetypal conjuring of cultural stereotypes. and when you mix and match 'looks,' you become frankenstein because you aren't aesthetic.

art is challenge, fashion is appeasement.

you can factor in on how fashion works in a social setting but I didn't mean to mean to sound like that was the only goal obviously if I'm talking about appreciating aesthetics separately.

>>6128188
>art is challenge

fashion is art if the designer wants it to be. fyi you're not going to be seeing too many haute couture peices out on the street

impressionistic aesthetics used to be appreciated in a social & practical setting.
forget practicality; my clothes can't be the tool, I am!

i agree with you, i dont think there is art in physically dressing, but i do think there is art in creating clothing. Great tailors essentially are sculptors of fabric.
