Truthfully I don't know why it ever went away.

heroin-chic is by far my favorite look. is it just that normal consumers can't relate?

coming from someone who hasi had a bad heroin addiction in the past, and now on suboxone maintenance this look just looks too nxtlevel and feminine. if I saw anyone on the street looking like half these pictures i'd seriously think they were a homo, not that I have prejudice against homos.

The problem with heroic chic is that only fashion aficionados care for it.

Normal people think it's weird and unhealthy (which it probably is I guess)

tbh i think it has potential for a comeback but i think in a more modern interpretation that hedi doesnt seem keen on. saint laurent's latest menswear looked right out of 2003/2004. anyone got good *~heroin chic~* inspo?

It's because people often see heroin-chics as sickly and creepy.

It's the look that fits me the most, so I adopted it. It's like... My body was made for it. Nothing else fits me like this style.

The only downside is that people often wonder when you're gonna drop dead by their feet in the middle of a cup of coffee or something.

I'm not saying I don't like it, I find it beautiful. I love my body, and how it fits this particular style.

But even if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to change. Genetics fucked me up big time in the "being healthy" area.

This, but I'm even more of an oddity. 6'3", 155 lbs. I have long swoopy brown hair and darting light green eyes, always accompanied by the heroin-esque dark circles/puffiness. But I'm really tan, like I look like I'm from Troy or Rome, it doesn't blend very well together but I sure do get some stares. Also got those sunken cheeks for model face aesthetics.

Pretty sure it's just because times change, fads evolve. Beauty standards can't remain stagnant for ever. A lot of the designers who pioneered heroin chic renounced it after various heroin related deaths/injuries started occurring in the fashion industry and it was getting a bad rep from the media. (Pretty sure Bill Clinton publicly denounced it or something.) It's definitely left a legacy and it's still somewhat relevant, but people today are looking towards models that are simultaneously thin and well-muscled (i.e. Kloss).

>>6126157
HC was pioneered in the 90s by artists like Nan Goldin and films like Trainspotting and was picked up by the fashion media along the way. Initially, it was an uplifting and edgy revolt against the glowing, healthy supermodel beauty paradigms of the 80's, but designers began to shy away from it once the general public started complaining about the unhealthy rhetoric it seemed to convey.

HC's not just about being emaciated, though, the clothing, surroundings, styling plays a pretty important part in it, as well. The goal is to look sickly and sloppy.

Heroin Chic is way more /fa/ than the /fit/ muscly bullshit people are trying to say is fashionable here these days. Anyone can work out and eat food. Only a few are brave and stupid enough to get the true heroin look.
