I've seen plenty of images of people looking like dorks in these clothes.

But I'm sure at one of you or someone you've come across has managed to buy that Asian gear and still look acceptable, if not... you know... good.

I suppose its possible but even if you were the right body shape, sized it properly, adjusted the fitment and wore it exactly the same way as the sample pic it still won't look the same because the backs of the mannequins are probably pinched together with pins to get exactly the right fit and the lighting is very carefully constructed.
