I need a headshot for my LinkedIn profile but frankly a lot of the one's I've taken turn out to be crap in my eye. Does anyone have any tips on how to get a better photograph taken? I want to know what I can do as the subject to make sure I'm in the best position for a great outcome.

This clip was really helpful so more like it would be great.

find a hairdresser, fashion or photog student to take your picture

try to get a friend to take one of you w/ a digital camera and a solid background wearing a blazer an/or collared shirt
look attractive (you're not bad looking anyway)
headshot should be from shoulder up

for girls all you have to do is look attractive w/o being dressed like a ho. pic is my current one..I had a "professional" one prior to that..wasnt v. flattering and i get much more views/msgs/connection requests now

OP i'm a photographer so here's what I'd recommend you do
>find room with natural lighting coming from a window
>get point and shoot camera and the cheapest tripod you can find
>set up tripod and camera, zoom in because the lens at its widest end will cause your face to be distorted (it should be about 5-6 feet from you)
take a bunch of photos using self timer then get free trial of adobe lightroom to adjust lighting/contrast/crop
