With that being said. I will post the ONE copy pasta that is impossible to debunk:
Mass appeal can only mean one thing : being the lowest common denominator.
Rolex is, this fact is undeniable, the best known maison today. It is the watch every uneducated consumer aspires to. Understanding this is what begins to separate one from the plebe.
Rolex, to put it in a way one of its owners would understand, is thinking Olive Garden is fine dining. After all, it is more expensive than Burger King and you may even need to place a reservation beforehand. It is exclusivity in the hands of millions, an elusive presence you will find everywhere. It is everything but exceptionnal, special, it is the status symbol of those who need it. And a man with status does not need a symbol for he has his status and that alone speaks for itself.
This simple, logical truth will anger the simple mind. "Cope!" he will scream, believing you are jealous of him who owns one of the most common and mundane pieces one could imagine. He is to be dismissed. "You are bitter!" he will cry, unable to even imagine he may not have been correct in his decision to adhere to the glib norm of the unaware. He is to be dismissed.
Would you give the time of day to a supposed cinéphile who believes himself legitimate after watching a C. Nolan film and "getting it"? To the man who thinks himself a connaisseur of the letters after reading Grapes of Wrath (only after skipping the foreword, naturally) ?
These are lower still than the ignorant masses simply for believing themselves higher. They are to be ignored.
Rolex is Ronald McDonald in a three piece suit. He tells you that you are lucky : the McRib is available today. The common man believes he is getting an exceptionnal treat. The discerning man may enjoy the sandwich for what it is but will not be fooled into thinking it fine dining.

"Whoretadello". A name that struck fear and rage in the heart of the bitter. A man who lived a life of luxury and excess, surrounded by beautiful Japanese women, sushi and nice watches. But what made him truly infamous was his ability to make the bittercel seethe, simply by existing. No one knew much about him, only that he was Greek and had an uncanny resemblance to an anime character, Yuta Okkotsu. He had left his empty life in Germany to pursue his dream of finding a society that fit his outgoing lifestyle, his calm character and his love for cars. He found this in Japan.
Every once in a while,he would grace the /wt/ thread with his presence, posting pictures of his latest expensive watch, delicious meal or delicious woman. Without fail, bittercel would come out of the woodwork within literal seconds, spewing hate and insults towards him. Jealous of his lifestyle and his endless supply of beautiful japanese women. But Whoretadello had allies too. Those who admired his carefree attitude and his impeccable taste and those of similar, if not greater statue such as Omegadrunk and The Citizen The Citizen-poster that would bless the threads with their signature posts. United, they would defend him against the bittercel, causing heated arguments but also providing deep knowledge and detailed conversations about watches.
No one knew how he managed to live such a life in Japan, but rumors started to spread that he was involved in human trafficking. Some even speculated that he was a member of the Yakuza. But no one could prove anything. As time went on, bittercels hatred towards him only grew stronger. Some even went as far as to try and dox him, but he always seemed to be one step ahead, becoming untraceable. And when he returned, it was always with a new watch and a new beautiful woman by his side.
The mystery of Whoretadello only added to his allure and his power over /wt/.

Living rent free in the heads of the Bitter, he marches on to spread his seed across Japan.

PREFACE: This poem, is a dream of a universe. A universe where only Jaeger-Lecoutre, Rolex, Patek, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, and IWC exist. A holy realm, consisting only of the SACRED SIX.

THE SACRED SIX is a communion of the finest, best watches for all humankind. No lesser beings can acquire, or even dream of obtaining such watches. Watches like Seiko, Casio, Timex, and Orient are a completely foreign concept to THE SACRED SIX, and are heretical watches. The SACRED SIX will purge such disgusting heretical watches from the universe, and bring about a better time.

Walk with me, let's try to imagine a better world, a better life, with the SACRED SIX.

Begin Poetry:

In the realm where time is king, behold the Sacred Six,

Masters of horology, their craftsmanship we fix.

Jaeger Lecoutre, with precision, ticks each fleeting hour,

In its intricate dance, a testament to power.

Rolex, a legend, on adventurous wrists it gleams,

Through tempests and triumphs, it fulfills dreams.

Patek Philippe, a tale of heritage and grace,

A legacy of elegance, in every watch face.

Vacheron Constantin, whispers of refined taste,

Centuries of excellence, never to be displaced.

Breguet, with innovation, its legacy unfurls,

In each tick, echoes the genius of its pearls.

IWC, with engineering prowess, takes its stand,

Crafting timepieces that echo across the land.

The Sacred Six, guardians of time's fleeting flight,

In each intricate tick, they weave pure delight.

In their hands, time becomes a cherished art,

Boundless tales woven in each beating heart.

The Sacred Six, immortal in their horologic dance,

A symphony of time, in eternal romance.

Seriously though, where does one go from here? This pics feel is that of someone who's at his peak and has achieved anything he wants from life.
Would a more expensive watch be...."better" at this point? This feels genuine and with a lot of soul.
It's like... he didn't find the watch, the watch and him found each other to create this moment of bliss and appreciation of life itself.

I wore my GS to a work thing figuring it would fly under the radar like my imaginary friends living inside my computer said would happen, and LITERALLY the first day I did that, one of my coworkers who had never stood closer than about two arm's lengths and with whom I have never discussed watches or "effay stuff" even ONCE was like "is that a grand seiko" and (this part is going to sound like "and then everyone clapped") he actually said "zaratsu polish", a term I never thought I would hear outside of the internet

I wanted to say something about how it was just a 9F shitter but I just mumbled about how I bought it on the internet and then changed the subject but you people fucking lied to me and now I'm paranoid people are going to think I'm either wildly irresponsible with my money (which I am) or that I'm overpaid (which I am not)

tl;dr don't listen to /fa/ or /r/watches/ because nobody except me has ever gone outside

Cope.
Nobody look at your Grand Seiko thinking "woah this must be an expensive watch!". Just ask them how much they think you paid for it, 99% of them will say around $500. Tell them you paid over $5k for it and they'll immediately call you a retard for not getting a Rolex.

See, that's the thing with Grand Seiko. People who don't know shit about watches still know the name "Seiko" because everybody has ever been to a mall looking at affordable watches. Just for that simple reason nobody will ever associate Grand Seiko with wealth, class or fine things.

It's saved me from useless tristes with low quality women and also saves me when I'm alone and aimlessly browsing and see some lewdly dressed woman. >The true account of the European /wt/ meetup

>Whoretadello selected the venue, a mid-priced Japanese restaurant in Nürnberg. He arrived first and brought a very tired-looking girl with him. She told us her name was Candy, but later also told us her name was Bambi. No one got the chance to clear up the confusion because she left to go to the bathroom after twenty minutes and never returned.
>Finncel arrived first. He was late but that's OK. He was coming from a long way away and wasn't driving. He was heavily intoxicated, so it's a good thing he took the train. He sat down heavily, boobs bouncing, and ordered a drink. Whoretadello started to talk about Seikos but after fifteen minutes of nonstop talking he realize that Finncel appeared had fallen asleep. Whether from booze or boredom, no one could say.
>Just when Whoretadello began to despair that this whole thing had been a waste of time a tall, skinny girl appeared in the restaurant foyer. She looked nervous in her dress and wobbly on her heels. Whoretadello saw she was wearing an F-91w and waved her over. Cockwatch smiled brightly and wobbled over, sitting down between the two men. Whoretadello began talking about anime and his trip to Japan while she nodded politely, absentmindedly scratching at the razorburn on her neck.
>Finncel woke up and ordered a vodka when he noticed his new dinner companion. He suggested the three of them order dinner.
>Over dinner, Whoretadello continued to talk about how he was basically a Japanese at this point while Finncel drank in silence. Cockwatch tried to to see if her two companions were interested in spit-roasting her. Whoretadello didn't know what to say. Finncel immediately responded and called dibs on the mouth. He was drunk, but not stupid-drunk.

>It was at this point I got up from the bar, paid my tab and left. I'd seen more than enough. My bitter heart can only take so much comedy at once.

Rolex ownership is "Girlfriend", other brands are "Wife".
Your Girlfriend just needs to be one thing- smoking hot, the girl everyone at school would have killed for back in the day, so gorgeous that all who glance at her immediately want to see her naked, want to ravish her for hours, want to show her off to their exes, and hate your fucking guts for being the lucky bastard that gets to do all that with her.
Your Wife, different story, that's a logical decision, it's not about looks as much as its about her demeanor, her intelligence, her education, her parents, her siblings, her personality, and all those elements that go into the biggest decision you'll make in your personal life.
"Rolex" is akin to "Cheerleader" or "Prom Queen", so that's half the Girlfriend battle right there. Submariner, Explorer, GMT, Daytona, Datejust....that's the "blonde", the "redhead", the "brunette", and all the different flavors of hotness. Pick whichever one you like, but you know it when you see it and so does every other guy- she's drop-dead gorgeous. Man, what is she doing with you?
When you get to other brands like "Omega" (too much makeup) or "Tag Heuer" (wallflower) or "Tudor" (wannabe) or "Grand Seiko" (the band geek) it requires getting under the hood for all those Wife considerations like the "movement", the "build quality", the "heritage", and all that other stuff. You know it when you see it and so do your friends- nice girl, you two are perfect for each other. Love the apartment, how is the closet space?
You buy a Rolex because for once in your life you want to fuck the blue-eyed blonde Head Cheerleader and make sure everyone notices you as you walk her around. You buy one of these off-brands if you want a safe and uninspired relationship with a practical woman who can make a decent meatloaf.

Okay, I'll just write this down for you once, pay attention, kid.

Watches are one of the few accessories/jewelry that men can traditionally wear. A man needs a watch to be considered a working member of society, getting your first watch when you're a teen is a rite of passage.

Watches are functional precision instruments, they keep you organized and literally on time throughout the day, this is the reason quartz (watches) still exist.

As you progress in life you want to signal your elevated social status with a finer timepiece, something more than a mere timekeeper. In this stage of life time is not essential, you don't need to be in your wagie cage within the second. That is why people acquire, or as I like to say, meet mechanical timepieces. Watches such as Omega, Tudor and Rolex.

In a professional or any environment with affluent males, your watch is your Curriculum Vitae, your rank in a way. People will know you had to go further in life than your average poorfaggot mathlete to acquire a fine Patek for example.

Now I don't know your age, but could you imagine being over 25 and wearing a wagie poorfag incel seething bitter faggot lardass brainlet quartz watch in a serious environment? I don't think so, you'll be giving yourself away as a absolute loser in life and people will think there's something seriously wrong with you and wonder why you're even there with your cheap shitter piece of shit nasty crusty chinese watch.

Trust me, you don't want to be part of the quartz horde. Join the ranks of the men with sophistication and class and meet your mechanical watch. Discard your nasty wagie faggot ass piece of shit computer chip "watch".

Hi all, I was gifted a rolex submariner from my father a week before I graduated with my engineering degree. He previously wore it for a few years then stopped after a while. I eventually said to him I want to wear it just for the day of graduation because it symbolized how far I've come but how far I still stand to go. He did not go to college and grew his business from nothing, he was previously a poor farmer.

When he gave it to me he told me to get it fitted for the day and to keep it. I told him I only plan to wear it for very special events. He said no, wear it whenever, even at work. It says you don't need the job and you're there to succeed.

Since then, I have gone on to wear it when I'm not dressed in my college outfits (sweats) and I absolutely love it.

Now I have worn it in a professional setting during my research and gotten asked if it was real. I am about to go into my first job in an engineering leadership development program where I work at an engineers level but also shadow directors and program managers to learn how to lead.

Should I wear the watch at work? I am driven to succeed but I don't want any bad perceptions holding me back.

Each time someone points out that you're projecting, presumably because you came here expecting to be praised for buying a Rolex Kope (the most popular and ubiquitous luxury watch brand in history) and didn't get any praise because nobody gives a fuck about another uninspired Rolex owner/collector, what you do is greentext with a stutter to put words in someone's mouth, equivalent to

The fact that you're not hypocritically accusing that poster, whoever the fuck he is, of doing the very same thing that you are doing here since

tells us everything we'd ever need to know about you, your social standing, your lack of sex, and curiously, your lack of funds because if anything you own a single 10k watch and not a collection by any means.

Take this anon for example, he got into watches few months ago and managed to acquire the perfect collection with his average Joe salary. It ruins the dial. Watchmakers need to learn that we do not need to know the date on luxury watches anymore. We have smartphones, computers and ipads to tell us what day it is. The date window is an obsolete relic and usually ugly part of any watch design. On this watch it is a disaster. Unless you make the date window background the same color as the dial you are asking for disaster. I am amazed that more watch companies don't get this by now

Is there a definite guide for buying a clone watch? I'm thinking about getting a 37mm Royal Oak fake and I have no idea what to buy. I want the factory look to be as close as possible but I care less about internals because I mostly want it as an accessory. As bad as that sounds I just don't know what to spend my money on and so for as long as I don't know, I'd rather buy a few smaller pieces and maybe add some clones because they look nice to get a feeling for what I want to own the real deal of. I want the collection before I decide what my (first) grail is/will be.

There's no need, mechanical watches are luxury goods marketed as lifestyle objects and fashion accessories to people who feel lots of social pressure to look wealthy.

I hope you're either fucking joking or you live in some shithole. Anyone who can have a luxury watch (usually one in a lifetime) gets a Rolex. It's full of people who wear a Rolexes, everywhere, and 70% of the times they're chinkfakes or superclones. Fucking hell. Normies only know Rolex, so they get that when they can. I'm not arguing over the undisputed quality or Rolex, but believing they're something special it's delusional.

I live in a wealthy european city and I see a lot of Rolex. Mostly Datejusts. A lot of Cartier too. They're part of the wealthy attire. OCBD, RL polos and chinos, navy and neutral tones and of course a nice Rolex.
I've noticed most people who hate this look are either arabs, blacks, indians, leftists and other kind of congenital poors (poverty is a mental disease but I think we all know that already).

Anyway, I agree with the statement
>no real watch collection without a Rolex
It's easy. You buy a Rolex as your first watch, then you can have some fun. Cartier, JLC, Patek, Vacheron, Richard Mille, Casio... or even more Rolex.

Alright Rolex chads, if you had to pick: 114270 or black dial 16570?
Size of both is fine for me (I wear a 34mm air king pretty often and it looks fine). Explorer I has the better minimal dial and $1000-$1500 cheaper. On the other hand, Explorer II has more functionality, possibly better size, and also looks great IMO. I have wanted a Rolex GMT type watch forever but can't justify the expense on a 16710 yet. Explorer I is reddit. Shitty larping watch that doesn't make any sense at all. It's a seconds-minutes-hours watch like a trillion others, and you're pretending to use it to explore the woods between your house and the arab district. Also I've always found unbearable ugly the 3-6-9 design.

Explorer II is great. However, only in the polar version. The deep black dial (it's literally just a GMT/Submariner dial, nothing else, zero originality) doesn't go hand in hand with the steel bezel. Too much contrast, scarce aesthetic skill. On the other hand, the white dial looks cool as fuck, it's luminous, perfect both for the summer and the winter, AND it perfectly merges with the shiny bezel. The red/orange hand is fun, and the touch of colour added to dial is something more than a fucking red line. Black dials are often reddit, this is pretty much the case. You have in general absolute shit-taste. Good luck.

I'll need to stare at the polar dial some more. Only had black or sunburst watches, so the white seems a little loud. I get the point on the Explorer I and that's why I looked into the II as it's not a ton more expensive, relatively. But I still think Explorer I looks great.

1. Where can I find a watchmaker that will do a hydro mod?
2. Why on earth would I pay $100 to get a $80 watch modded?

>>18205575
Let it sit for a while before screwing the case back on, maybe give it some vibration. It should be fine, unless the WR is absolute garbage. Are all the seals good?

Maybe the engine oil has a high thermal expansion coefficient?

>>18206002
Why so negative?
1. It's a $20 watch and $0.1 of engine oil, who cares?
2. You just add new oil when you change battery.
3. Digital ones work even better, since there is no moving parts requiring low viscosity oil.

I have a hydro modded skmei (olive oil) and it works great. After two years there is a small bubble, that's all. Beeper is quieter but still works. I think LED might be worse but don't recall.

>> No.18206025

>>18206023
wait, did you do this on a non-WR watch? If so it absolutely won't work, sorry. You must have a watch with rubber seals. You can use hydromod to go from 1cm water resist to 10000m, but it still needs to be sealed. All the hydromod does is improve pressure handling capacity.

Anon... People don't care about that. When someone says
>this watch is too small
What they mean is
>I've paid a lot of money for this watch so I want everyone to notice it
The way watch actually fits their wrist is irrelevant to them. They just want a large watch you can spot from a distance.
That's the reason why modern shitters are also high-polished, thick, have colorful dials, etc.

tl;dr: people are tasteless niggers

wristlets can't comprehend that guys with a wrist bigger than 6" exists. If your wrist size is 7"+ then you simply can't wear 36mm watches they look ridiculous on you, like a childs toy.

> B-b-but men used to wear 34-36mm and smaller in the past, all those ww2 soldiers wore 34mm field watches and they were manly

Okay? So go get a time machine and wear your watch in the past then. People used to wear togas and shit in roman times, do you see anyone wearing that now?

Face the facts we live in the present, not the past, and in 2024 36 mm is comically undersized for a man. Any guy with an average wrist size or above wearing a sub 40 watch looks like they borrowed their little 5 year old son's watch that he got as a prize out of a crackerjack box
