The scent profile of the parfum version is a bit rounder and fuller. I also prefer the opening notes of the parfum version over the EDT because citrus notes in the EDT are a bit too strong for my liking. The dry downs between the two are similar but again I like the parfum version better. It comes off smoother a bit of coolness on top of the warmth of the vetiver.

Others have noted there is a bit of licorice and juniper in it, and I can smell it but is definitely not in the forefront. I've heard some compare it to a gin and tonic but it isn't nearly as strong as that. The juniper does give it the bit of coolness compared to the EDT but again only a slight to moderate amount . Also notably the there are not nearly as strong citrus notes as in the EDT. If you like that strong opening of the EDT you will be missing that in the parfum version. Also the EDT does come off as warmer with it's vetiver. It has a bit of a feeling of a warm glow on the skin whereas the Parfum has that to a lesser degree but it feels like a smaller but noticeable coolness layered on top of it but still distinct. One thing that I did notice is that the parfum has a bit more of a smokiness to it than the EDT, with just a note of like a dark roasted cocoa but very light. It is definitely not a gourmand by any means. But again overall I feel like that contributes to a fuller, rounder, bit more complex scent than the EDT.

PDM does that a lot. They're popular fragrances are all slightly redundant so they hide certain notes and emphasis others. Another example of this would be Habdan. That was very clearly a rose oud scent, but Akaster is also a rose-oud so they left oud out of the note breakdown on Habdan until recently.

>> No.18111402

>>18111398
To be fair, Habdan doesn't smell particularly oudy. It's got a bit of that bandaid smell you get from certain ouds, but that one really smells more like some kind of oriental aquatic. It has a very convincing ambergris that makes gives it an oceanic feel in an otherwise borderline gothic composition. Which is strange. It's definitely one of the more unique fragrances in their lineup. Maybe their most "niche" smelling scent. Nobody ever talks about that one either.

hmm... I'm looking for a bit more mellow of a tobacco scent. Other people tend to enjoy the scent of someone else smoking a pipe, smoking a cigar not so much. Of the three, I'd say Carlisle is the closest to what you're describing. Both Herod and Oajan use a lot of cinnamon, and Herod has a somewhat medicinal cherry thing that is very evocative of fresh pipe tobacco, but I don't really love it to be honest. Oajan also has resins and honey which are blended well, but it might be too sweet for a lot of people. Carlisle uses nutmeg instead of cinnamon and comes across more laid back. But its also the most expensive of the three.

Blind buy of Eau de Rochas Homme joins the warm weather brigade!
First impressions are quite nice. Tart aldehydic lemon and lime opening, some nice basil. Drydown has more myrrh and vetiver than I expected which is a nice touch that helps it stand out more. Not particularly similar to Eau Sauvage, feels more casual, maybe not as classy and complex, a somewhat more modern freshness. Seemsike a good alternative to classic EDCs for that tart green citrus hit with a resinous twist

I'll still have to judge performance, but it seems on the weak side, which I expected. I must say I really like the bottle with that textured back and the sprayer is quality too.

>> No.18111592

the stupid part about this whole eau de rochas homme thing is that the original eau de rochas was a perfectly unisex eau de cologne spinoff. some dipshit marketing exec at rochas clearly realized that the average male perfume buyer is a complete dolt and refuses to buy anything that doesn’t scream men and cocks on the bottle, regardless of what it actually smells like. and the real kicker is that original eau de rochas is just a reformulation of an earlier eau de roche, composed by none other than the same edmond roudnitska that made eau sauvage. what an exercise in pointless folly.

>> No.18111594

>>18111592
I agree it's a strange journey that led the unisex original to get a "men's" flanker. I like the original too, for what it's worth, but wanted to see what the more woody-resinous flanker is like. I remember the original being more floral too. Might have to revisit it at some point.

It's quite different. 1881 is much heavier on the florals and aromatics to my nose, with the lavender, juniper, the nice rose-led floral mix and just a bunch more herbs. Meanwhile Eau de Rochas Homme is more of a straightforward citrus cologne with just a bit of green aromatic accents and a resinous base. 1881 reads more "old-school" and complex to me, EdRH more modern and stripped-down. I hear Creed Neroli Sauvage is pretty similar to the Rochas, but I haven't smelled that one.

It performs fine, you're just going anosmic. I have a 2019 batch and a 2023 f batch and the 2023 performs better. The other day I sprayed it on my wrist in the morning and could still smell it in the evening after wearing a long sleeve shirt all day. I asked my roommate if he could smell it and he said yes, it was pretty strong.

>> No.18111731

It's definitely been stabilized. Whether or not it smells better or worse now than it did under Olivier is subjective, but it's been fairly consistent since around the time they switched to metal caps. Blackrock and Kering both bought the company because of Aventus alone. This notion everybody had about them paying billions of dollars to acquire the rights to a specific perfume just so they could immediately trash it and lose all that money never made sense to me.

The reason Aventus had been so inconsistent was because Creed insisted on doing everything himself despite the fact that he is not a perfumer and doesn't know the chemistry behind making fragrances last. He just took Bourdon's recipes and swapped everything out for the most expensive ingredients he could find. That's definitely going to make your fragrance smell expensive, but naturals almost always perform worse than synthetics. If you're making a high end fragrance you need to strike a balance between naturals and aroma chemicals, and that isn't something a person with no training can do.

And it's not like Aventus is some super complex formula. Armaf recreated in a cave in the desert with a bunch of scraps. The only reason CDNI doesn't smell identical to Aventus is because A) Aventus was built around a captive molecule Creed licensed from Firmenich and no one but Creed can use it, and B) because they are working with a much smaller budget.

But if any halfway decent perfumer was handed the original formula and a bunch of money, they could have fixed Aventus in twenty minutes.

Not that anon, but I suspect the majority of people who collect fragrances as a hobby do so because they enjoy the scent the themselves. If you mainly just want a fragrance to be more appealing to others then you can either find out what specific scents an individual person likes (ask your girlfriend), or just stick with the popular ones like sauvage. Almost any fragrance will smell 'good' to the overwhelming majority of people. However as another anon mentioned a fragrance alone is very unlikely to matter whether or not someone will get romantically involved with you. Things like looks, fitness, personality, and basic matching chemistry matter far far more.

It's a common thing that happens with specific kinds of celebrities. They develop a persona that catches on and over time the persona slowly begins to become their actual personality. Andrew Dice Clay and Larry the Cable Guy are two very famous examples. The whole "diceman" gimmick that Clay is known for was originally just one of many characters he would play during his acts, but that one became far and above the most popular of his personas and eventually it just became his whole personality. Larry the Cable guy is the same thing. He didn't even actually have a southern accent, if you search out his early work he was once just a generic 90s stand-up guy. Now Larry the Cable Guy is just who he is on or off stage.

But you can see the same thing happening with Jeremy in his first videos. You can see he has a concept for the sort of lady's man fuckboi image he wants to project, but he's not really good at it yet and his true personality still peeks out from time to time. Watch how stilted and awkward he comes across in his very first video. It's like he's still trying to figure out who this "Jeremy Fragrance" character is but it's not all there yet

But god damn, spitting out a tonsil stone live on camera? I knew he was fucking crazy now, but I didn't realize it had gotten this bad. I didn't even know this was a old video even I don't keep up with all his drama. But this is just absolutely disgusting even.

it's genuinely the most overhyped fragrance I've ever tried. I get why people like Aventus or Bleu de Chanel, but Cedrat Boise is just horrid. it smells so cheap, screechy synthetic, just badly made.
I could understand if it was a 5$ arab fragrance called "Greed Adventure", but I can't imagine how so many people are willing to spend higher end designer tier money to smell like off-brand "tropical" flavor candy and artificial BBQ flavoring

I’m also usually able to find positives in nearly every fragrance I ever try, but Cedrat Boise is one of those reasons why I have to say ”nearly” instead of all.
