the $70 was mainly because i got big containers of two things i use, 1L of conditioner and 100mL of hair oil
regardless, i think a few quality products work better than a bunch, mainly because with the latter certain products work certain ways and can interfere with each other, plus if i use too much stuff my hair tends to get weighed down and isnt as "fluffy"/voluminous
for shampoo and conditioner i use set set of moroccanoil "smoothing" products, even for the smaller bottles theyre a little pricey but worth it imo
the oil is by the same brand and is just called "treatment"

That's how it looks if you just let it grow out naturally from a short cut. If your hair is thick/healthy enough I guess. Keeping it at that same length is an issue, sometimes asking for a lot of layering has worked but mostly I just had to cut it a lot shorter to get it back in that shape.
Pretty sure straight hair just naturally goes to that jagged shape as it grows long enough.

Growing my hair out now and it's kinda fucked because I had a bowlcut undercut before I decided to grow it out, and it's like 2x shorter on the sides. My hair is also thinner and has less volume than when I was a teenager. Kinda straight too. Not sure if I can make it.

Other than that, I noticed some of you don't blow dry or use shampoo. I didn't use shampoo until recently either, but with longer hair it just gets greasy. Not sure if just water is enough. If I don't blow dry it also looks like ass when it dries. All separated and shit. Any advice on the shampoo and blowdrying? Maybe I should wash it every 3-4 days or so? Is blowdrying bad?

Need curly haircut advice:

I've grown my hair out for about 3 years from a buzzcut, haven't had a haircut since so it's quite uneven.
About a year ago i broke my wrist and couldn't look after hair so it got matted and damaged.
I ended up ripping a big chunk out of the back, which has mostly healed but its still uneven, my hair would be full of split ends too.

I shower at night so my hair normally looks like "the day after" unless i'm going to something important.
I'm pretty happy with how my hair currently looks from the front but the back needs work.
Not sure if i want it cut "straight" to be all the same length, or "curved" to be slightly longer at the back.

What should i say or show the hairdresser? i'd like to lose as little length as possible excluding the overgrown back.

you need to use certain products for curly hair, No sulfates or parabens in ingredients
this is the most important thing, it will always look shit with wrong products

instead of shampoo "cowash" - use conditioner to clean instead of shampoo, then condition again if needed
only shampoo when your getting build up, they call it a "reset wash" and you also need specific shampoo for it

use a wide afro comb to detangle when hairs wet with conditioner in it
it is also very worth getting an extra detangling conditioner even tho they cost $$$

don't just stick your head under shower to rinse all conditioner out
you have to "squish to condish" and cup water and squish it into your hair until most of the conditioner is out
it takes a while, sometimes i just very quickly put head under shower and then squish it out when lazy

pat down dry with a MICROFIBRE towel, normal towel makes it fuzzy af
you can try gel but it doesnt work for me personally

Been taking fin and using min since 2021, it has helped as I used to shed literally tons of hair and have to unclog my tub every week or so, now not as much. Hair falls out when I comb or wash but not at a pace that feels unnatural.

I had this hair for a while and used this routine. It is a fucking nightmare.

It does look amazing, but it takes an hour and a half from stepping in the shower to having a finished hair style, and you're going to stink to high heaven of hair product for the entire first day. Unless you want to start over each day, you're going to have to figure out how to sleep with it, so youre going to have to buy some silk head wraps like black women use.

Even if you sleep with it correctly, by the 2nd day, it starts to frizz out, and if you ever get it it wet, you have to start over from zero. By the 3rd day it's looking more like a rats nest, and now you have to decide if you want to begin the hour and a half routine all over again or try to save it by doing something a cowash, or rinsing the old product out, and then you STILL have to spend an hour coating your hair in gel and then diffusing it.

After 2 rounds of styling without washing, you pretty much have to shampoo otherwise it's just going to look like shit.

It's honestly just way too much fucking work for something that only looks best for the first day.
