When I turned 30 I ritually burned all my sneakers, athletic socks, t-shirts, and denim. I only wear pleated worsted wool trousers, waistcoats, double breasted blazers, top hats, white satin gloves, calf socks, and patent leather shoes.

I also no longer wear a wrist watch because that is very childish, only pocket watches with chains for me!

If you're over 30 you can basically wear whatever you want provided you're attractive and in decent shape. I wouldn't recommend getting too crazy with sneakers or anything. People once they hit 30 hit the wall and look silly in lots of youthful clothes because they look like shit in general. Mature clothing is really good at hiding what a fat piece of shit you are.
Also I argue that if you're having a get together then you should maybe dress a hair nicer. That's more of a society hangup than anything. Don't show up to a dinner party in your sweats etc. As long as you are a well taken care of individual and dress well then it doesn't directly matter. The only things I say that are probably out of your reach once you hit that age is basically shit that already looks silly on younger people and is still in fashion.

I never did any big throw out all clothes out revamp. I just put old clothes into a bag and If I don't need them, I throw them away. I bring little clothes with me when flying to a different country so I can buy local clothes too. As for style, I'm very slowly upgrading everything. I technically wear the same type of clothes, but I pay attention to more and more details, add accessories that work, can afford better quality materials. I'm still far away from my ideal, but I'm getting there.

The clothes they make for literal babies look a certain way, different from the t-shirts they make for 12 year old boys, and then those look way different than the adult men's department.
