My brother in Christ.
I know that I'm broke because I am an unemployed uni student.
You don't have to remind me of my failure and downfall.

I think the cost of materials in more expensive fragrances is pretty high. Higher quality frags use more natural materials in their fragrance oils making their shit expensive.
>is 30$ perfume even worth it?
Are you asking because you think a 30 dollar frag is trash tier or because you think 30 dollars is still too high of a price? If it's the former, then I'd say yes. There's plenty of affordable frags in the 20-30 dollar price range that smell good and perform well. If it's the latter, then just stick to 5 dollar cans of Axe body spray my dude.

Trash tier

Thank you anon, I thought there is no point to investing in those 30 bucks fragrance since the good one are usually around what? 100 bucks?

Get some perfume samples online and see what you like. They are like £3 each
There are some good frags around that price like Jean paul gaultier le malle and lalique encre noir but you should be prepared to spend ~£60-70 if you want something you really want
Anything over £90 for 50ml is considered high end

>Why is Perfume even that expensive for
designer brands have high markups for the money and to maintain their image
>where do I even get start on this kind of stuff?
you could try looking at the fragrance general threads, I haven't kept up but they at least used to have good info. I will post a couple old infographics

Your price range is Body Shop, Lush, Bath and Body Works or discount outlet. Or you could go on a sample site, order 30 bucks worth of top shelf samples and smell good for the same amount of time as the same ml of turbo expensive fragrance will take you.

On that note, Lush>BBW>Body Shop
Lush also has costlier stuff iirc

Lush’s stuff starts about 25, right? Definitely doable, but a bit pricier for OP.

They have a premium black labeled range that goes up into the hundreds, like Devil's Nightcap. But their basic range is still pretty good, considering that the black labels are usually pretty experimental and can be a little hit or miss, or even just outright unappealing to most people

Just buy a tried and true Arab frag off Amazon like Detour Noir for 25 bucks instead of fucking around with these shitty women’s cosmetic store brands like B&BW and Lush. Even if they smell good they rarely last longer than an hour like most of Zara’s shit.

This.
Arab and slav off brand fragrances last a long time, you just have to bother trying them out to find one that smells nice.

80% and more of the price of a fragrance is advertisement/brand markup, in the vast majority of cases. I could understand if they used natural ingredients where the raw materials and the essential oil/absolute extraction process are expensive, but the vast majority of perfumes are now synthetic, and synthetics are dirt cheap, especially given the fact they are mostly made in India and China.
I have never bought a perfume that costs more than the equivalent of $25, but that's because I prefer retro perfumes that have little brand name markup - e.g. Jovan Musk, Zino Davidoff, JOOP! Homme and the like.
Just because it's not popular doesn't mean it can't smell good, you just won't be with "the current thing" whatever that is.
Find a non-expensive cologne, read about its notes in Fragrantica/Basenotes so you slowly get an idea at what certain compositions smell like, and you will eventually find something cheap that you like.
>but muh grandpa cologne
Zino Davidoff is daddy issues in a bottle, no other cologne pulls boomer-made zoomettes like it.
Bonus: Older colognes were formulated before certain ingredients were banned by IFRA cunts, and also had freedom of experiment - unlike modern ones, the vast majority of which smell the same, with negligible difference.
