how do i style a barbour casually? been thinking about picking one up, but every fit i see is either insanely preppy or radiates severe reddit energy

I'd go for Beaufort first, Bedale second. If you're feeling extra homo, Ashby is a strong third.

Quarterzip, collared shirt (linen or something similarly rustic), beige cord trousers, contrasting heavyweight socks and expensive brogues (trickers). Signet ring won't hurt either and Voila' - welcome to reddit.

You style a Barbour with a fit and tall body and an attractive face.

also, listen to this: >>17959596

I hope at least you're not fat. Being a fat manlet is never a good look, especially when larping as a british landed gentry public school trust fund nepo bastard. Barbour jackets never fit as intended and they are designed to be roomy rather than form fitting.

I have a blue Beaufort that I wear all the time. I just combine it with whatever I am wearing that day. Usually basic white sneakers like Air Force 1 or Air Max 90, blue or black jeans, and basic tshirts or hoodies. No need to really go to great lengths to "style" it, unless you actually do want to larp as a British landowner or whatever.

>> No.17959733

Just wear it over whatever. It's a pretty casual jacket. Fit is the reason it looks so awful on so many people. Avoid sneakers and shitty jeans, graphic shirts.

How do you NOT style it casually? It's an inherently casual garment.

They ARE preppy.
The problem with many of the fits people post is that their jackets being new. Those jackets need a lot of wear and tear to look good.

>but every fit i see is either insanely preppy or radiates severe reddit energy
that's because it is a preppy jacket and wearing it otherwise is retarded and reddit. if you don't want to look preppy don't pick up a preppy piece, simple as

i am really conflicted on barbour jackets because some times i see one and think it looks great and want to get one and sometimes i see one and think it looks like a grandpa jacket for fat rich boomers

>> No.17959905

I wanted to get a barbour jacket because it fits my relatively mild, rainy climate. But there's too much prep/bougie association with it and I'd want something easier to style casually ie. with sneakers. Any reccs for more casual alternatives with similar weather resistant properties?

what are some good shoes for heavy rain that could pass for business casual?
I dont want to ruin my nice leather shoes and boots when its pouring out

>> No.17961654

Those waxed jackets were made for blue collar folk who would never throw anything away and patch all they had. Harris tweed and Donegal hats for working in the pouring rain type of deal.

Button down shirts, sweaters, chinos, jeans, boots.

It just works with everything worth wearing.

Get a Beaufort and just throw it on top of whatever else you're wearing. It's a practical, utilitarian garment, not a fashion statement
