Fun watches but if your IQ is above average you shouldn't get one

The Octo Finissimo (basically their only watch) looks like it was AI generated. Won’t age well

Weird looking watches with dumb complications for eccentric boomers. François-Paul seems like a fun dude though.

>Parmigiani Fleurier
They've made some of the most disgusting looking watches ever created but their current artistic director seems to have good taste. The Tonda PF looks quite good
>Patek Philippe
Thousands of disgusting watches but maybe 10 HIGHLY DESIRABLE watches that somehow make the brand still relevant today. The 3940 is possibly the best watch ever made
>Piaget
Used to make very sexy little watches with stone dials. Now they make ugly shitters for people who can't afford a Nautilus
>Ressence
Mechanical watches that look like Samsung smart watches. I have no idea who buy those
>Richard Mille
Casio for billionaires. Fun watches to wear at the Monaco Grand Prix. Poorfags hate the brand which make it highly desirable
>Rolex
The best brand. Vintage, neo vintage or modern. You can't go wrong with a Rolex. Only hated by contrarians. The fact they're kind of hard to get make them even more desirable
>Tag Heuer
Same as Breitling but for slightly more retarded people. Their most iconic watch (the Monaco) is one of the ugliest shitters ever made
>Tudor
They're fine until you hit 35. After that just get a Rolex or women will make fun of you
>Vacheron Constantin
People like the brand because the name sounds cool and the logo is nice, but they haven't made a single good watch in 300 years of existence
>Zenith
The only reason this brand still exists is because Rolex bought them some movements 40 years ago

Has anyone had any experience with Omega watches?

I tried this on the other day at a shop and I really liked the dial, but thought it was a bit too big and showy. Not too sure if 43mm is a bit big for a watch.

My other consideration would be a Grand Seiko but is worried about their durability over time. How does Omega hold up in that area?

Well I'm a fucking weeb so my opinion is very subjective. What I can tell you is that, GS makes everything (everything) in house. Have unique movements. An amazing polishing and pretty much, from my anecdotal experience, unmatched finishing at that price point. The dials are also top notch. The bracelets though are bad, for the price. "Bad" as in, it feels like it should be on a watch half the price. The thing that makes GS a better choice for me though is that, Seiko is very transparent about every step of the way of production and making of the watches, from the case and dial to the movement. Omega on the other hand is very secretive. They don't show where or how their watches are made, they don't tell you where they get their dials, their cases, if it's china swatch-metal etc.
To me, that's a too much of a red flag (the complete lack of transparency) What are they hiding? Well we don't know.
The hour markers are hand polished btw.

Here is the bracelet.
What omega does have that's much, much better than GS, is brand recognition. So if you don't care about the lack of transparency, then Omega is the better choice.

I don't care so much about the metal bracelet. I might switch out out for a leather one since it's more comfortable to wear down the line anyways.

I have heard that GS is more prone to scratches and their magnetic/shock resistance is kind of below par. Don't care much about brand recognition since I'd rather get something I like and can wear for a long time and isn't looking to resell.

Have you noticed any damages to a GS for daily wear?

I daily a ceramic watch (pic related) because of my fear that the polishing will wear off if I daily the GS. Ceramic won't scratch (as easily). I am oversees right now so I don't have the GS with me, I was wearing it daily for 2 weeks after getting it and I noticed a few micro scratches on the bracelet only.
I can't give you a longterm review but, from what I heard and read, the black polish shine or zaratsu as they call it, wears off quickly.

I think you can see them here, the micro scratches. The bracelet is much more prone to them.
And let's be real, after daily wearing it for years, every watch will look used, but the problem with any GS is that, if you send it in for re-polishing, they will absolutely Not use zaratsu to re-polish it. So yeah, I guess longterm GS isn't the best choice.

I see. Well, thanks for showing the pictures of the White Birch. I was thinking of getting that or the Lake Suwa version if I do decide to settle for the GS. The snowflake could also do but I don't really like the wind meter on the dial.

Last thing, excluding the Spring Drive, how is the movement on the Hi Beat watches? I have heard that a lot of people have had accuracy issue with the pure mechanical movements.

Most Omega and GS look already VERY dated IMO. That Omega Worldtimer you posted looks like an innovative design from a few years ago, that's slowly turning into a cheesy fashion items from the last decade. It's utterly repulsive and will not age well, just like those beefy Breitling from the early 2000s that nobody wants now.
I have the same feeling with GS. I've never seen someone with good taste wearing one. Just look at this faggot >>17953567 who also bought the most disgusting looking Tudor he could fine. It says a lot about the GS demographic.

When it comes to (expensive) watches I think it's important to get something timeless, because these objects will stay with you for a long time. You don't want something that is too deep-rooted into its era, you want something time-proof that would looked good 50 years ago and that will still look good in 50 years. Rolex is the safest option of course, but the Speedmaster also works.

People will sperg at my post because "DURRRR THE WORLDTIMER HAS A COOL COMPLICATION" or whatever but I don't care. Deep down you all know I'm right, you fucking faggots.

In a weird way it actually makes more sense to ball out on a rolex than a car. Cars wear down and need a lot of money to service and fuel up and the more expensive the car is the more all of that is going to cost you, and they hemorrhage resale value by the second. Rolex service costs are maybe $1500 every 10 years? If you even bother getting it serviced? And if you decided to resell it you might even make money. At worst you should get about 90% of your money back assuming you didn't massacre it. So I say wearing a submariner driving your Toyota to work actually makes some sense.

Tried on a PRX 35mm today and thought it was very comfortable and impressive for the price. I had been looking for something dressier, so when I went online I spotted the Tissot Ballade on 3rd party sites. Got a discounted Tissot PRX 40mm quartz with an emerald green dial for £270 today. It was between that or a Tiffany blue dial Citizen Tsuyosa, but I think the PRX edges it slightly in build quality and aesthetics. This is the most money I have ever spent on a watch, as I normally wear a Casio or Citizen beater. I can’t wait for it to arrive, it looks great from what I’ve seen. Yeah, I own one, a quartz like yours, though mine is has the ice blue dial. It's a fine watch. People like it as well. I've received compliments on mine and yours should stand out even more with the green dial.

The movement is accurate and the seconds hand stops dead-on on the markers.
It's also pretty comfortable once you get the bracelet sized, since it's so thin.
The lume isn't great, but that's a minor quibble.

You can also get aftermarket straps for it and it completely changes the feel of the watch.

In general I really think people underestimate how important legibility is on a watch. I have a watch that I ordered online without seeing it in person and in the pictures it appears that there's decwnt contrast between the hands, markers and dial, but when it arrived I found that the hands and dial and markers aside from the lume in them is all the same color. I can usenit but every extra microsecond I spend trying to sort out where the hands and markers are is time I shouldn't have had to waste doing something so simple.

Nobody said anything about investments you one trick autistic rubber suit wearing mens room solicitor. The point isn't that you make money, the point is comparing relative losses on expensive cars versus expensive jewelry. On one you lose your shirt(the designer top you kept the reciept for in case you post a picture of yourself on /fa/ and get roasted for looking like a sex doll) on the other you don't. So wearing a nice watch and driving a shitter really isn't that bad compared to wearing literally any watch and driving a sports car.
