Still trying to find nice, interesting looking scarves but completely unsure what to get. I previously posted that I placed an order for a herringbone scarf which looks nice but I’m not sure if a tartan or check is probably more traditional. If it is, then I can’t really find anything nice and fairly subdued. Maybe one of these two colours?

Okay, fair enough. Do consider wearing your white tux jacket with black pants though, a la Bogey in Casablanca. It's a very sharp look that you don't see too much anymore. As for the suspenders, if you're wearing them with the white tux then I suppose match them to your tie, or at least have the color compliment the color of your tie. Definitely something darker than white, though

Black only looks good with all black outfits, scarves only look good with dressier than casual outfits, which should only be black for things like funerals or whatever. So no reason to get black imo. It will mostly come down to personal preference, but I don't find Seiko's to be anything special. Add to that they're associated with and mainly purchased by clueless r*ddit tier retards with no redeeming qualities, and you have a brand that is tarnished. They are watches for the lowest common denominator who thinks they can be special and stand out by wearing a "nice" watch. Seiko's are very "trendy" watches, you'll never find a monied individual wearing one, even if they're clueless about watches.
Anon needs to spend the time figuring out what they like and what you want. Take like two months looking at the various watch brands (especially vintage because they're less expensive) and then come to a conclusion about what they like and want.

Yes. The material is exactly the same. In fact, UC-Berkeley and Michigan have probably the best economics programs in the country and most if not all of the schools I mentioned are up there as well. The only difference between being an economics graduate at Harvard and an economics graduate at Arizona State is that Harvard has long established pipelines into elite firms filled with alumni who want to look out for their own. It’s alumni nepotism basically. But outside of that alumni network, the reputation of these schools is not what it used to be. In fact, pretty much everyone accepts that candidates from Wisconsin or Chicago are usually better than from Harvard or Yale.

Also, there’s a difference between an Arizona State or a Michigan State and an Ohio State or a Michigan. The latter two have pipelines that are good enough to compete with Harvard and Yale while the former two just don’t even though the education at all six is the same.

Cornell is really good in my field which is why I'm interested outside of it being an Ivy. Harvard has really weird departmental setups where you almost always have to be like dual-facultied in a primary field and then some DEI secondary field. Princeton was so sick on the visit and were not very pozzed. Basically everyone I met with was just a middle-aged white guy.

>>17954019
WUSTL is pretty good. St. Louis is terrible but WUSTL is an okay school. Cornell is one of those schools you’ll love or hate. Ithaca is in the middle of nowhere basically. It gets cold in the winter. It’s a land grant school so there’s ag students and rednecks and whatnot. But some people like all this. In my mind, that all makes for the authentic American college experience. Princeton is okay but not as amazing as you think imo. Princeton takes pride in not being as fake and gay as the other schools but they delude themselves about how not fake and gay they are. Penn and Chicago do the same thing. If you want the Ivy experience and don’t want the fake and gay woke shit, you’re SoL. That said, good state schools are more normal than Ivies and among Ivies and may as well be Ivies, Cornell, Princeton, Penn, and Chicago are the least gay. Yale is extremely gay but has other cool things. Only reason I know all this is because I work in academia and spent time in these places, know undergraduates, worked with alumni, etc. if I had to go to
College again, I’d probably go to Penn but I’m from Pennsylvania so I’m biased.

If you're not already intel then go intel and you can make this a reality. You'll probably have to relocate but that comes with working for the gov. I quite enjoy my work preforming a very specific air force intel role, get to wear what I like whenever I like. What else bothers you? The pleat seems small, but that can be intentional. Many patterns just use a pleat instead of a dart and that turns out like the version you have here. For a deeper pleat you should rotate hip side of the front part starting at the knee level

I'd strongly recommend visiting Sid Mashburn. Suits run from $1500 for entry level to ~$4k for escorial wool. They have a shop in NYC and tailor in-store who will do complementary alterations. They offer tippy stuff with soft shoulders, 3 roll 2, no darts and they also offer more slimmer, more Neapolitan style stuff.

J. Press is within your price range, they have a store in NYC. They'll do ready-to-wear or made-to-measure. O'connell's (who has their suits made by Southwick) is in Buffalo and also within your price range. They do made-to-wear. Those are your best options for /ivy suits. I'm not much of a shoe enthusiast but I will say that in my experience shoes with a more forgiving and thin leather tend to be much more comfortable. Make sure the bottom of the shoe is wood and not rubber, and that the shoes are made of real leather not faux leather. I really like my pair of Carmina's, they have a number of different last's for different foot shapes. Compared to TLB, the Carmina's are much more comfortable because of how they fit my feet and how they flex with my feet. The TLB's were just too stiff for my liking, but I'm sure some people prefer that.
For oxfords I would get a cap-toe. A plain toe oxford is more formal but honestly looks too formal for most situations in our dress-down world of today. Any kind of brougeing (the hole patterns on the shoe) will make the shoe less formal, the more there is the more casual the shoe becomes.
Just get something over $300 and your usually safe. Crockett and Jones, Allen Edmonds, Alden, and again Carmina are brands which come to mind, though I'm sure there are others.

Got my first pair of loafers.
Picked size for a recommended foot length of 283mm (insole length 292mm). My feet are 280mm.
Loafers fit perfectly barefoot but are somewhat too tight with regular socks and very tight with winter socks. I don't intend to go sockless.
Do I size up (rec. foot length 290mm, insole length 299mm) or should I be okay after breaking in? They're fully leather lined.

usually there should be a half size with 3mm difference, but in any case, at least try the other size, too, if you can. Shoes that are too tight will always bother you, and I had models that I needed two sizes larger than my regular size
