There's a schism happening this very moment but make no mistake; Patou 1000 thread is the only 1000th thread, everything else is a watered down, reformulated cheap synthetic clone of the original 1000th thread.

>Okay, what I’m going to say will upset some people, but I think guys should smell of ‘clean’, and only close up. I think it’s okay to have a sillage if you happen to be an oriental satrap, but if you’re just a normal dude, keep it quiet. This is not an absolute rule, but I feel uncomfortable when I know that other people can smell me before I get there or after I’ve left. A perfume should be like an aura. It should follow you very, very closely.

about to pull the trigger and order all this shit guys. Yes, you are probably thinking..has this anon completely lost his mind? Well yes, I’ve gone full circle, I’m interested in musk, and I’m not talking about the musk from the the dirty asshole of a muskrat…but about clean white synthetic musk!!

Because at this point in my fragrance journey, I think I just want to try out smelling as clean, comforting and inoffensive as possible without smelling like a random bro who smells like he just showered with some generic „blue“ showergel, but more like a „cleangirl“.

it’s very powerful, when people associate you with cleanliness and that it’s not obvious that you’re wearing a fragrance. There is a beauty and
Elegance in subtility and simplicity..
Maybe I will branch out and try out fragrances that smell as sterile as a hospital/dentist waiting room.

Congrats on your free smelly water.

I bought a frag directly from a house (I was young, dumb, and didn’t know any better) and when I found out it’s projection and longevity were both shit I contacted them to return it, hoping it was just a bad batch.
I was just about to wrap up the call when the rep said “your card will be credited a few days after we receive the bottle back” and I was like, oh wait wait wait, I want a replacement, not a refund, and suddenly they no longer needed the bottle back.
Got a second bottle in the mail, still shit performance. Figure 3rd time is the charm, get sent another replacement free of charge while holding onto both original 2 bottles. Third bottle arrives and is STILL shit, so finally I call them up, sent them one (1) of my 3 bottles back and got a full refund. Decided I would never buy from them ever again.
>And that’s how I managed to get two full bottles of Spicebomb Extreme completely free.

Bought it after trying the whole Sephora store after a breakup because I wanted to stop using Le Male that reminded me of my ex gf. And as soon as I sprayed this one, I was done. Such a beautiful perfect and delicious perfume .

Decanters exist. Best is to check their track record and cross reference their prices with the actual bottle and other decanters. If you can find their physical store and sniff them before buying the decant itself, even better, because the good ones tend to have massive collections themselves.

Tonnerre I bought for its uniqueness, and frankly I’m not sure how much I’ll use it, should have got a travel size instead, but I don’t regret the purchase.

An excellent point! I’ve been waiting for Mousse Illuminee to be restocked in my local shop, already tried it and know for a fact I’ll be buying a bottle. Plan to test Targhee Forest as well.

Nicolai is the one big name here that I just never got into. Nothing against it, I just haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. Down the road sometime, I’m sure. You can tell by the collection I’ll prob love NYI.

I guess I should also mention Ganymede is the only other thing I know for certain I want a bottle of and don’t currently have, just been procrastinating picking it up mostly due to the price.
I’ll prob pick up at least one Tauer full bottle, just a matter of picking one, and one more ELDO to put the discovery set coupon to use. Leaning Fat Electrician.

As with the other Anon, good taste in recs and appreciate the input. Happy 1k as well and best wishes!

And I had the same autistic method, until I realized it's really neat to throw the sample of a frag I own a full size me a business trip instead of lugging around the 70ml or 100ml. I now keep samples of full sizes for travel, separate & don't try to use up.

If you like smoke, I would highly recommend this - 'Hearth' by Criminal Elements. This guy is a local producer who lives literally a few KM from me. His work is absolutely amazing. I'm considering buying out his remaining stock, but since you're a fellow smoke appreciator, here it is.

Look for smaller studios or shops that usually only sell online or rent pop ups at malls and markets, those tend to be a lot less cut throat. It doesn't have to be in your neighborhood, regional local still counts, especially when you hail from an area that's not into the business like Paris etc. Granted the quality is also pretty hit and miss, considering that most of them tend to be novices, but when you do find good ones, they're usually really damn good

I really enjoyed my sample, didn't seem too far off from Ormonde Man, but much more spice oriented than woody. I'm not so advanced as to single out so many ingredients, but it's their most acclaimed fragrance by a mile. Has a 4.63/5 on Fragrantica and something like an 8.7/10 on parfumo

A more natural/spiced and less sweet version Prada L'homme. Very crisp, inoffensive, and light. Universal (day/night and any season). It's a blue fragrance that purposefully stays light instead of adding heavy wood notes. I believe it's a cheapie so I would recommend it. The aromatic touch flanker as well, but that one leads more spring/summer.

I don't have much to add, but given the thread number I'd like to dedicate some space to Drakkar Noir, its legacy, and Dakar.
It's a great frag, the best fougere I've tried, if soapy for 2023, it made history and it's worth remembering.
I haven't tried any other frags based on it, but I can attest that Dakar is a best of a fragrance, and the best thing you can buy if you want the historic Drakkar Noir in 2023.
If you haven't tried either I recommend you do, and if you own a bottle but haven't worn it in a while take this opportunity to smell it again and think about whether there might be any occasions to do so again one of these days.
Cheers my friends, have a good one.

The problem is that unlike with other sources, grey market or straight retail, you have to do research or you WILL get scammed.

Personally I would never bother because it’s just not worth it, but there are plenty of people that do it as a side business and are 100% legit. If it’s coming from China or Russia though, big red (kek) flag right off the bat.
