I bought a frag directly from a house (I was young, dumb, and didn’t know any better) and when I found out it’s projection and longevity were both shit I contacted them to return it, hoping it was just a bad batch.
I was just about to wrap up the call when the rep said “your card will be credited a few days after we receive the bottle back” and I was like, oh wait wait wait, I want a replacement, not a refund, and suddenly they no longer needed the bottle back.
Got a second bottle in the mail, still shit performance. Figure 3rd time is the charm, get sent another replacement free of charge while holding onto both original 2 bottles. Third bottle arrives and is STILL shit, so finally I call them up, sent them one (1) of my 3 bottles back and got a full refund. Decided I would never buy from them ever again.

Decanters exist. Best is to check their track record and cross reference their prices with the actual bottle and other decanters. If you can find their physical store and sniff them before buying the decant itself, even better, because the good ones tend to have massive collections themselves.

I will say that technically I told them the bottle was leaking, which was a true statement. Fragrantica, or one of the other sites has multiple posts of people buying a bottle in store, opening it at the counter, and it’s already a little oily around the atomizer.

Of course not. I don't use any liquid laundry detergent except for my wool detergent. I only buy powdered with as little filler as possible. I ain't paying for literal water when I can get the same in highly concentrated. Also, it surely lacks zeolites, which are used to remove water hardness so your clothes don't get gray over time or you get limescale damage in your washing machine.

I don't have much to add, but given the thread number I'd like to dedicate some space to Drakkar Noir, its legacy, and Dakar.
It's a great frag, the best fougere I've tried, if soapy for 2023, it made history and it's worth remembering.
I haven't tried any other frags based on it, but I can attest that Dakar is a best of a fragrance, and the best thing you can buy if you want the historic Drakkar Noir in 2023.
If you haven't tried either I recommend you do, and if you own a bottle but haven't worn it in a while take this opportunity to smell it again and think about whether there might be any occasions to do so again one of these days.

Polo Cologne Intense is a nice twist on the original and a must-have if you don't like sweet fragrances.

Only ever smelled the elixir version when I started chatting up a nice sales rep in a Macy’s.

I wasn’t a fan of the scent because the top had a kind of waxy smell to it, and I was irritated it didn’t live up to the “elixir” designation -at all-.

what answer do you want? it's a chypre done in the 1980s "powerhouse" style. complex, dark, mossy, leathery, musky, animalic. balanced with rose, citrus, some nice myrrh, labdanum, beeswax
it's somewhat "gothic" smelling
