Ashley in Paris is also a good channel because she’s a working perfumer so has great taste and is very knowledgeable, but she doesn’t have very many videos.

It seems you are in fact the one that has difficulties with reading comprehension. I can read better than you.

He literally wrote that he „Just ordered a sample“.
He did indeed write that he ordered "a sample"
and it doesn’t necessarily signify that he only ordered one, but it is a relatively safe assumption to make considering the fact that he refrained from using the plural form.

I’m starting to doubt if English is really your mother language or if you are white at all.

That's a very old perfume (1955), but I'm tempted to buy a sample anyway. Does it give grandpa vibes or is it an exception?

>> No.17933878

>>17933719

It's definitely worth a sample. I don't get grandpa vibes from it, but I'm old enough that people might get grandpa vibes *from me*. It took a while to grow on me desu. It's quite citrusy, so I had it down as a summer frag, but it didn't really work for me in that context. I like it more as a cool weather cozy frag - it's like warm sherbet lemons, or maybe a hot toddy.

This was my second frag back in 2013 or 2014. It had a shockingly low score of like 3.02 on fragrantica. I was so confused because I really liked it, so I started reading the reviews.

People hated it because the marketing and packaging suggests a dark, masculine scent but it's really a fresh, soapy scent. So because the bottle was dark, a bunch of pretentious fart-sniffing losers gave it 1/5s for being "misleading" instead of just honestly rating the fragrance.

That low score was so unfair. It has now risen to a 3.78 over the years, which I think is still a little low desu but is more fair. That experience made me realize how gay fragrantica can be, though.

I'm comparing fragrances between Dior and Chanel and I like Dior a lot better. Fahrenheit is my all time favorite. Also all men's chanel frags have this feminine powdery backbone that I don't really like. How does chanel rank against dior?

>> No.17934404

Just got a sample of Caron Third Man. I think I read and watched every review there is, and all the while it eluded me as to what it was going to smell like.

Unfortunately disappointed. It hardly projects. I sprayed x2 to make up for the smaller plastic sample atomizer, and it feels weaker even than Pour Monsieur, which it hardly smells like. Maybe I should try again later and forgive the first sprays out of the vial.

I know its a cliche to write off older perfumes as "grandma/grandpa", but this reminds me strongly of my grandfather. I think Third Man smells quite a lot like Brut, which is probably where that's coming from.

I don't get "chypre" at all. I have to really press my nose into it do find any mossiness. At arm's length, it smells like aftershave+BO.

Is this what NYI smells like? I tried Bois du Portugal a while ago and don't remember it smelling like this.

The strangest comparison of Third Man was to Chanel Egoiste. I have and love Egoiste, and this smells nothing like it.

My quest for a strong performing, relatively cheap daytime chypre continues. I want to get samples of NYI and the Aramis chypre flankers too. I've heard Capucci pH resembles Pour Monsieur (and is very cheap) but supposedly performs no better.

A question for someone who has a bottle. Can you do less than one spray? Say, half or even less than that?
Dior atomizers are really good at this, dosing less than one spray, at least my bottles of DHI and DH Parfum let me easily do that. Particularly useful with this last one, sometimes I just want to enjoy it for an hour and move on to something else.

I just tried mixing Carolina Herrera 212 Men with 4711 (on my hand) cause I don't like 212's initial blast on its own, too synthetic, and 4711 longevity is poor so I thought they might compliment eachother. 30 minutes since I've done it just smells cheap, the 212 being overpowering, and the 4711 just adding noise. do not recommend

This place, cerruti 1881 and ST dupont. Cerruti is good if slightly too peppery. Too dated to wear though. The real prank was ST Dupont which was cheap but just.... bad and cheap. "it's like armani code." Yeah, armani code but trash. Passenger also smells goofy. Fragrantica/forums/etc, I got trolled about the hype for discontinued LNDL and LNDL BE. Bought both. They're both excellent, but for what I paid I expected more. Not upset that I have all of them because they are slightly different, and I like all of them. But the level of hype is silly. Unless you're a super die hard for LNDL do not buy the discontinued/rare/meme versions. The current formulation, which I also have, is excellent.
