I got 200 dollars to get me some versatile but stylish sneakers, probably the only time in a year I'll get to buy shoes.
I already have all the memes (stans, AF1s, c85s, old sckools, ozweegos and chucks), as you can see I like the classics. Looking for "something you can wear with everything" or at least you can style with a lot of stuff, especially basics. Also, something that will not get out of style soon.

What sneaker do you recommend/fa/?

When people were saying to size up on Ultraboosts I sized down 1 whole size and I sized half-size down than my usual Brannock for things like my Vans, AF1s; my Killshot 2s I sized down one whole size, Common Projects 1.5 whole sizes, half-size down for MMM Gats, etc
I would order TTS and just exchange from there if it doesn't work out

I feel like dunks are kind of out right now. I mostly see girls wearing them. Classic grey is always a good choice. I was basically asking what the next It basic shoe was. I usually just got for them and wear them for whole year.

I honestly dont like dunks to begin with. It just looks like a shitty Jordan low and I dont even like those. Plus, unless you do the customized versions, the quality of the materials is dogshit. I don't know about the IT basic shoe. Right now I like 990s, gel kayanos, and 1906rs. 2002rs are a good alternative to 990s that are comfortable. I think they have ortholite insoles.

I haven't owned a pair yet myself but the Vibram sole should give you decent performance. Most of the reviews I saw when I was considering them for a purchase said they're comfy for a boot, but not as comfy as a traditional sneaker. So basically missing link between the two.

>Rose Anvil
he now openly admits he didn't know much about leather quality when he made the common projects video and the amount of pushback he got from some of the dumb shit he said in it like "chrome tanned leather bad!" made him go back to the drawing board and actually learn what he was talking about.
this was mentioned in the next white sneaker review he did, his white sneaker roundup video, and extensively answered on some video on his rose anvil 2 channel.
anyways common projects are overpriced but regularly go on sale for $250
heres a common projects achilles 1 knock off from a company using the same leather and probably also the same factory in italy to make their shoes:
https://olivercabell.com/products/low-1-white-mens
they have a fair pricing discount where they break down the cost of the shoe:
>Leather: $26.04, Lining: $8.12, Outsoles: $6.60, In-soles: $3.80, Cutting/Manufacturing/Quality Control: $34.88, Packaging: $3.96, Transit: $12.43, Duties: $5.36, Shipping: $11.50
>Generally, Van’s shoe materials and manufacturing cost is around $15.5 to $17. After including the other cost, like shipping, vat, and customs fees, the total costing is come up to 20 bucks for each van pair.
vans have a higher profit margin than common projects, even though they're made from slave labor.

>>17929743
for me its the 993 for comfort and looks. I like the 992 better but its like 400 dollars. For 990s I like the midsole and back of the 990v2 but they are very narrow and stiff compared to the later models. 990v3 or 990v4 are my favorite for them. 990v6 is the most comfortable, but 990v5 is close and it has a nice ortholite insole. I don't like the plastic ankle stabilizer though.

>> No.17929827

>>17929743
oh yeah there are also like 996, 997, 998 which are okay but look to much like the original 990 plus a midsole that I don't really like. I like the 1500s and the N logo on those, but they aren't very comfortable.

a lot. regular stans are vinyl fake leather and age like shit. i only buy those as lawn mowing beaters when they go on sale for $20.
the luxes are real leather and will age a lot better. there's also a different version of the stan smith that doesn't have any special name with a veg tan upper, it costs about the same as the normal stans. that version, the luxes, and the mesh upper encased boost parley version are the best stans.
the luxes and premium stans are a decent value at full price great value on sale, you get more for your money in the long run with a common projects clone and they won't have that stan smith bulbous toe shape as much. hard to beat them for cheap white sneakers, most sneakers under $200 use trash leather.

running shoes are only supposed to last 300-500 miles of running, maybe a couple hundred miles more as lifestyle shoes. that's a really good run. rotate your shoes or don't wear running shoes if you want your shit to last. that's just the nature of running shoes - they're very comfortable, but break down fast.

My made in usa 993s are the worst quality of all of them - inside heel immediately wore a hole through it and toe box on both shoes ripped a hole in it. Soles delaminated in the toe area as well on the outside edges. I don’t expect a 2,000 mile sneaker. I expect shoes to not get holes or have soles delaminate walking around in regular asphalt/cement from regular use

new balance's last is probably the wrong shape for your foot if you're punching holes in the toe and prematurely wearing the heel out. not saying its not a qc thing too but those are signs of a bad fit. unrelated to that specific fit issue but all the sneakers you say you like run narrow, your foot might be too.
>>17930427
go off the japan/cm sizing with asics, ignore the us/eu sizing. find a shoe that fits you good, look up the jp/cm size chart on that brand's website, and buy that size in asics and it'll fit.

copped another shoe this thread didn't like and called a dork shoe. saw em at a local b&m on sale for $40 and couldn't say no.
instant compliments again just like my salmon toe gel lytes. doing the opposite of this thread's advice is my new meta.
>comparisons to gsm's
i know its supposed to be the mass market watered down GSM, but they're WAY closer to being a narrow nike dunk than a GSM. japan s are beater shoes priced and GSMs are kinda expensive for what they are outside of asia.
>silhouette
less chunky, slightly more streamlined, more grown up nike dunk.
i can already tell the spot they're going to crease in won't look the best.
they're in that perfect middle ground where they have enough chunk to wear with baggy jeans, but they're just slim enough to not look like clownshoes with skinny jeans.
ex89 is a better silhouette if you mostly wear wide/straight leg pants but japan s is more versatile.
>materials
way better leather than on j1s and dunks. second best non-suede leather i've seen in a sub $100 shoe next to reebok. i'm not going to cut them open but there seems to be less plastic coating than normal for cheap shoes.
!!! the toe cap is real !!! which is pretty much unheard of on budget sneakers. i don't plan to skate on this pair but if board feel is good they're probably really good for that.
>fit
narrower and less volume than nike dunk. my foot's 3.6" wide at US size 8 and it fits like a glove.
>>17916922
