I was originally looking into a BB58, but I recently got a chance to try one on, and it's just way too bulky and blocky. The side profile is just ugly imo. Ran into this when doing some research and it's perfect for what I wanted.

Here's a side shot, kinda similar to the 556, which probably explains why I like it so much. The combat sub is 42mm, but only 11mm thick. No idea why this strap has such a long tail, it's quite nice otherwise. I'll drive into the strap drawer eventually.

I should've elaborated in my last post, but I just found the bb58 to not fit very well, despite it having some decent dimensions. Maybe the case is too flat, but the sides of the case seem like a huge slab on my ~7" wrist.
This isn't my pic, but this maybe shows what I mean. It's just an ill fitting flat slab sitting on wrist.

Judging by aesthetics I think this day date pilot over the pioneer. Then maybe your wrist size between the day date at 42 and the king at 40. They both have a similar design with absolutely based crown guards. If you want more water resistance than the king then go with the day date pilot I think it is 100. I'm looking at pulling the trigger on the king myself and seeing how the lug to lug looks. I like the king's day date complication but wish they'd left off the 24 hour marker beneath the date window. I haven't stated obsessively at the pilot.

Anon I have this exact watch and color too! Great choice, these watches look way too good for the price. The quality of the steel, indices, and bezel blows tf out of any seiko or similar watch anywhere around the price. The fact that it’s actually thin is amazing too. Lume could be better, also wish it was a bit smaller as I find the crown digs into my wrist, but the combat sub is truly s tier budget watch. Also the rubber is actually comfortable to wear unlike anything else
