What do I need to care for my boots?

>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

I got some used white's that are awesome but they're just a hair too big for me and it often leads to blisters around my heel since my foot slips around when I walk for extended periods of time. What is the best solution? I checked out some heel inserts on Amazon but they all look super cheap and poorly made. Are there any specific socks with extra cushion I should be looking at? Sometimes I wear a thin sock under my normal boot socks and that works fine, but then my feet get real sweaty.

Is there a general last that's suited to a flat footed fag that can only find comfort in alden's trubalance? (D width)
Considering my track record with sizing I'd probably not be able to get a proper sizing unless I physically travelled to the US and went to whatever state White's is in as I assume their "send in the measurements by Baker's" or whatever aren't magicians.

>> No.17895737

regardless of your feet geometry, the 55 mid/high arch last is usually the most comfortable after a while

What do you think of TLB's new vibram commando sole option?

I find it odd that a dressy brand would add a chunky commando sole and not ridgeway.

>This is where things went south. Make no mistake these boots fit, but the pattern and last is so unrefined that it probably closely resembles the unaltered block of wood that it was made from. Blocky in places that it shouldn’t be, when these boots are placed next to each other it can be a little difficult to determine which is Right boot vs Left boot. The fit is really odd.

>This issue is not exclusive to Jakkrabbits. My Sagara (and a pair of my Blkbrds) have the same issue, but am 0-2 with ID makers using lasts that resemble anything anatomical. Another thing that doesn’t help is that many ID brands will not do half sizes.

>When there are discussions about the price tag of makers like C&J, Alden, Trickers, etc, you have to acknowledge that part of that cost is the refinement of the lasts and the work that went into creating them. This pair is a prime example, there is no doubt in my mind that the talented team at Jakkrabbits put in some work to build these and it comes across on the details. However they need to take a look at the lasts and do a little more refinement, in my opinion.

>I’m glad I got this pair, they do fit but they have helped me decide that this might be the last pair I get from ID (at least in this model). There are other makers like JLB/Whites/Nicks that make a good LTT, and I’ve got my eyes set on a pair of Black CXL Nicks next.

Ok so there's a bit of lint from wool socks but I always thought my Indy was a little loose and best worn with wool socks. After seeing this photo I'm not sure that's true. If anything maybe I should have gone up half a size.
But it feels so good, I genuinely thought it's one of my best fitting footwear (with wool socks).

Not being a patina redditard but boots are meant to be beaten. It’s way more resistant than one might expect.

>> No.17898050

I don't understand the point of getting boots this heavily brogued with big stomping soles on them. It doesn't look bad necessarily, just seems contradictory to have a dressier boot with such an aggressive sole.

It's funny that brogues are meant to make shoes look more casual, but since only dress shoes do brogues these days, it actually makes it look dressy.

I mean nobody will see pic related and thing "damn that's too casual"

>> No.17898065

Who told you brogues are meant to make a boot look casual? Stylized dressy is not the same as casual.

>> No.17898069

brogues originally are the casual boot they were actual holes punched in footwear so that they would drain

Yes sweaty we know that boots were for plebeians 300 years ago and high heels were menswear in the French revolution. Stop dressing yourself out of a history book.

>> No.17898072

your toes don't hold your foot in the boot, it's the ball of the foot and that determines sizing for width
from your foot print it looks like it's sized correctly, leaning towards too generous
having toe room is nice, but i wouldn't attatch much meaning to toe prints, if i doesn't feel like your toes are squished and it doesn't rub, then it's ok

Where can I find genuine leather cowboy/work boots? I am so sick of seeing chink shit everywhere, even on "genuine leather" boot shop websites. I need something I could wear for years, and it absolutely has to be American-made with real leather. Something that can handle being in muck and snow.

>genuine leather
When you read the words "genuine leather" you know it's shit.
What you are actually looking for is "full grain leather"
And if it's suede or roughout you're looking at, try to find unsplit hides.

If you want a combination of full grain leather from Western/well known tanneries, made with a construction method that allows for resoling and a long life, and made in the West, you are looking at a bare minimum of like $400 or so.
Brands like Carmina/TLB/Allen Edmonds are not expensive, they are doing it literally as cheaply as it can possibly be done while ticking all the above boxes.
