17888547 No.17888547 [Reply] [Original]

I'm a Japanese person who likes second-hand clothes.
Sorry for my poor English.

I'm looking for information on this European military coat.
It was previously sold on the website below, but is currently out of stock.

The only information I have is that it is a European military dog trainer's coat, and that it was manufactured in 1984 as shown in the image.

Does anyone have information about this used clothing?

I am almost constantly looking at military surplus jackets and coats. I've never seen this, but then again it does look like something only Japanese people would find of value. The tag doesn't have a NATO number on it, and given that it is from 1984 it likely means that it is either from a country that doesn't use them, or it is just a private purchase item, i.e. not military surplus. It looks custom, honestly. Given that these coats are made to be used it is unlikely that many survived, anyway.

One more thing: if you see surplus you like and can only find one example of it easily then you should just get it, as it's likely that another isn't going to come around any time soon. Let this be a lesson

Even if you find one it'll be too big for your tiny yellow body

It might be the top half of an attack dog training suit, it looks roughly the colour, material and thickness of one.

I can't think of any other reason a military would have such a thick looking coat with no pockets or patches whatsoever. That and the lack of info on the tag as militaries don't make their own of that sort of thing, they'd just buy generic ones

My first thought would have been parka liner

You’re probably right, I’d bet it’s some privately manufactured product used on contract by a military, rather than actual “military surplus”
At leas that’s my guess considering dog training is a pretty specific field, I doubt there’s much info about it anywhere because it’s not really something notable like a country’s uniform

thank you all
I'm giving up on this product.
Next time, I will try to buy what I want as soon as possible.

Rank tab. A little cloth band showing rank is slipped over it. Common on military uniforms.

Tangentially where can I find a shirt like shown here? Specifically I just want it to be khaki/tan and have the same style pockets. Planning to make the cloak out of milsurp wool blankets and dye it.

What are military surplus stores like in Japan? Is it mostly JSDF stuff? Do they sell surplus?

sorry for a vague answer but yeah I would just be listing different shit that just essentially looks the same

Most of Japan's used military surplus stores are either overseas or domestic. Survival game shops sell new products without distinguishing between overseas and domestic products.

This reminds me I need to get some good display for my camo pieces. I am pretty sure I have all the ones from this image, except the Italian one.

/k/ doesn't seem to do surplus clothing, just gunz. As someone who enjoys surplus clothing and finding creative ways to bring it into my fits it's a bummer.

If you’re Japanese then just go to Shimokitazawa thrift shops. Lots of used military or military inspired stuff there.

You couldn’t be more wrong, I mean it’s not the main focus of the board but most people there are also into military uniforms and non-weapon equipment too

There isn't a constant general thread, but that's a good thing. Post a milsurp clothing thread and the camo collectors come out of the woodwork.

Well, I don't check much as I don't have much to say about guns, but I rarely see much discussion about surplus clothing. It's a different purpose over there, too.

lmao, It's not like it's you in the pic. Why are your feelings so hurt? The cap looks ridiculously old fashioned when paired with the very angular karst pattern and white space boots.
