So if I'm getting this right, there are SOME Powermatic 80 movement variations that are good and have better quality parts. But those are reserved for Sinn or Hamilton and not something like the PRX?

>> No.17885555

Yes.

C07.1xx; these have plastic components
C07.6xx; these replace the plastic parts with metal
C07.8xx; these add a silicon balance spring

The Tissot PRX, for example, uses the C07.111 (plastic parts) while the Tissot SeaStar 1000 uses the C07.811 (silicon escapement)

They're all Powermatic 80 movements, but they're different grades.

>> No.17885558

>>17885556
The tissot gentleman also uses the silicon escapement. It genuinely seems like an excellent watch, too bad PRX stole its thunder.

>> No.17885559

>>17885556
To add to this, sometimes you have to dig a little to find what the base caliber of a watch has.

The Longines Ultra-Chron, which beats at 36,000 vph, houses the L836.6 caliber, but that is simply a modified C07.811, with the increased beat rate reducing the power reserve to 52 hours.

Definitely. It's a very versatile piece. 100m WR, screw-down crown. I think the text on the dial at 6 o'clock is a little cringey and they were clearly just looking to put some text there to make it look more like a Datejust.

Yes, That's why most anons in /wt/ advocate for the Quartz PRX. Powermatic 80 in its basic form isn't a super outstanding movement andt the usage of plastic parts fucks it hard. If they break, the service is most likely going to be throwing the old movement into the fuck it bucket and just putting in a new one.
Serviceability post warranty is also important.

>That's why most anons in /wt/ advocate for the Quartz PRX
truthfully most anons advocate for the quartz version simply because it's most faithful to the 70s reference that inspired it, while the automatic versions' tapisserie dial just makes it look like a knock off Royal Oak.

With regards to serviceability, they can be serviced by any competent watchmaker. They're just slightly modified ETA 2824's, which is one of the most common movements in history. REGULATING it is much more of a pain in the ass but it still can be done. Plus, regulation is not always necessary when servicing a movement. Most often, simply cleaning and re-oiling the movement is enough to make it run within spec.

If the plastic component breaks, that's a different matter, but plastic components were used in Omega Speedmasters for years without catastrophic failure rates.

Now, what Tissot does is not throw the movement out, it simply speeds up the service procedure by replacing the movement, sending you your watch back, then refurbishing the movement. Some people are bothered by that but they lose sight of the fact that it's a Tissot, it's meant to be cheap, and a full traditional service would cost as much as the watch itself, which would lead to people not servicing the watch at all, having them run like shit, and hurting Tissot's reputation.

No, it's one single anon who keeps spamming cyclops hate.

4:30 date windows, on the other hand, are usually pretty bad, but in that Zenith's defense, they were recreating a model from the 60s and it had the date there back then too.
People bitch when companies re-release a historic model but make changes to it and they bitch when they don't change it.

It's a kino shot and OP pic worthy (not like the knife render in the last fucking disaster of a thread). Wear it in good health, anon

That's a pretty looking gun but is it reliable like Glocks?

For the watch you have been looking I hope you can snag it when the price is right for you. I haven't been looking at any high-end brands, but I have been looking for a mint condition or as near as possible Type I and Type II quartz Seikos from back in the day. Some of them have dials that rival modern GS, but I'm really looking for something I might not even get. Still, maybe that counts?

Kino EDC anon. Really like that wallet, simple and functional.
