I lost my sense of smell for a few months when I had Covid in 2021. It came back, but a lot of things smell different to me now. Most colognes just have a nauseating chemical smell now, especially citrus heavy ones. Deeper notes are pretty much the same to me though, but I used to love the clean citrus ones. I’m not huge on dark, sweet, “date night” scents naturally, but they’re about the only thing that doesn’t smell gross now.

Is there any way to fix my sense of smell? It’s been two years, and I miss the old stuff I used to wear.

What's the best way to familiarize yourself with individual notes which are commonly used in fragrances?

Things like Lavender, Vanilla, and Patchouli are obvious, but I couldn't tell you how Vetiver or Tonka Beans smell since those notes are always mixed with others, many of which I also couldn't identify.

You have to realize this formula has been passed from company to company and probably adulterated many times unless someone has an unopened bottle we don't really know what it smells like that said it has a very masculine animalic but also somewhat sweet and Floral opening that dries down quite quickly I might add the performance is not great into a clean fougere. It's for being in a sweaty nightclub reeking of vodka and stepping out into a cold night hopefully with a woman who wasn't with you when you came in.

You know it's clearly very dated but not that bad especially if it's a professional setting try 1881 by Nino Cerruti. It has that crisp, musky almost Barber Shop fragrance but less dated and "Grandpa's plaid suit jacket in the very back of a wood panel closet you dug out for an estate sale after he passed"-ish.
