SII NH38. Spinnaker knows all too well how inferior it is to its Miyota counterpart(Miyota 9015) so they're listing it as JAPANESE MOVEMENT on specs.

Well, to each their own i guess.

The idea of a watch that doesn't need anything from me, charges itself and sets it's own time is really attractive in it's own right, and the watch is fucking sexy too, the sunburst on the dial is mind blowing, so are the tiny faceted hands that align with each marker perfectly. the lume is actually sad, but they even have an LED light hidden under the floating index at 6.

My shots really don't do these watches justice.

What are you looking for in terms of Spring Drive? Unless you're swimming in money, I suggest going second hand. You're actually in luck when it comes to pre-owned Spring Drives since Jap consumers are not as speculative as their Western counterparts, hence the prices that look too good to be true in eBay and Walmart. They've got wacky names like elady but they're legit.

I think most of the Spring Drive Grand Seikos come in 40mm, but they look and wear smaller than that. Only the dressier models are in 38 and they have a hand wound movement and are more expensive.

I would suggest the sbge271. It fits your prerequisite on looking like a simple black dial, but when exposed to sunlight or bright light, you get to see how exquisite the dial is.

As for case thickness, 14-15mm is the average for Spring Drive movements, which is just the unfortunate nature of the beast, but if you're fine with that, I highly suggest it. The SBGE277 has the same exact dial as the Kanro and I just love looking at it.

The only sole caveat is that it doesn't have the fancy groove for the power reserve indicator that you normally see in the Snowflake, but then again it would've been hard to spot in a black dial.

Yep, it does so 3 times a day, that said you just have to make sure that your watch is close to your phone when both are at rest.

It also tracks your location, IF you want it to, it's thankfully not an intrusive thing like what Galaxy and Apple watches do but rather it serves as a means to mark a location of note you'd like to remember. To quote our guy TGV, it's just as smart as you want it to be.

Id've been really happy to keep mine if only it didn't look massive on my 6.75 inch wrist. It's the perfect beater.

Initially wanted a Seamaster but between the rumors of either using Chinese parts or being manufactured in China and seeing Adam Savage's Seamaster ALWAYS broken whenever he talks about watches, I don't think I'd want an Omega anytime soon.

Adam Savage has talked about his love of watches for 3 episodes on Tested and two of those, it's on the shop, one its with him but its broken. Man decided to get a Seiko mod that's a replica of his Seamaster and that has fared better than his actual Seamaster itself.

They basically beat the Chinese at their own game with this design considering how the movement is widely distributed in China yet the best they came up with was swapping the Acrylic dial of the original for Sapphire and going for 316L SS then charging a premium for the Seagull for having both. The only tragedy here is the lume placement, they don't step up on the lume until their 02 model that's coming out next week.

Keeping a watch due to its history or how it came about has value for some people. I would for example get an Omega Alaska Project, but there is like 0% chance that I would wear it. First because it's too expensive, and the watch looks way too good to beat it to shit. I'd get a regular Speedy for that. I love what it stands for, and I would simply own it for what it stands for in the Space Race.

Not only that, but I had a nice convo last year with Omega anon about it on one of the threads, and he said that pretty much everyone who has an Alaska Project never takes it out of a safe.

That said, from my time with GS thus far, I know the E designation(sbgE) means the Evolution series.

it's easy to figure out what particular GS is in a picture is if you know the difference between HAQ(High Accuracy Quartz), Spring Drive and Automatic(Dual Impulse Escapement). Once you identify which one, you just google the color of the dial.

It's probably the easiest compared to shit Citizen comes up with.

It definitely should now that people are actually receptive to Mother of Pearl. It would make both the case and the dial have an opalescent quality visually since Mollusc shells have a similar surface as Zaratsu Polish has.

The only thing that held brands back from doing MOP on divers was because historically, Mother of Pearl was regarded as something that should only be on feminine watches. It's not like we can't per se, but they are simply worse than a regular flat crystal. Odd angles and the size of those crystals means they would be more prone to getting slammed into shit and that would mean a costly repair. Cost of manufacture for said crystals is much higher with how many odd case shapes and sizes you decide to accommodate they go even further through the roof. For Seiko these days, it's simply not cost-effective to make faceted crystals.

But you can take a vintage Seiko crystal and put it on a modern watch. All you need is some dedication to track down the shape and size of crystal you need for your current watch and then a good friendly watchmaker that will change the crystals.

That said, though, the fact that officers are more attractive than enlisted is not surprising. All officers must have a university education and that factor alone correlates strongly to increased levels of wealth, health, height, physical attractiveness, etc.

Mostly in the US a large part of the population is very insecure with their own masculinity and therefore obsessed with the idea of looking "badass". Hence why sportswear, workwear, tattoos, beards etc etc are so prevalent.

Personally, I think it's the timing bezel. The timing bezel gets you a simple way to time things under one hour, without being a full chronograph, which adds a lot of visual complication and makes the watch thicker.
