I know, I visited Sephora to check some perfumes already, but lots of them smell different on test strips and on myself. I also like to come back to something after my initial impression.
Funny thing is, I've missed your post in this thread and found the perfume tag myself. I'll certainly make use of it, but I couldn't find any post where someone offered more than one decant I wanted. The convenience of ordering several from one place is important to me.

Recs for something similar to this?
I'm looking for something with the same vibe: it's warm, sweet and very masculine and sexy. Not in a traditionally manly way, but more like ”I'm confident in who I am, and don't mind wearing something more feminine”. I think I naturally project this energy so this perfume suits me perfectly.
Doesn't need to be the similar in terms of scent, but give off the same vibe.

Why is JPG's advertising so homoerotic? Who are they trying appeal to with these ad campaigns? Gay men? Straight men? I'm not sure how a bunch of shirtless sailors are supposed to make the average guy want to buy their shit frags.

>> No.17860938

>Why is JPG's advertising so homoerotic
lots of frags had homoerotic advertisements because gay men used a lot of perfume and clubbed a lot back in the day
Kouros and Antaeus's advertisements were much heavier on the homoeroticism than Le Male's
also, shirtless men might persuade women to gift these fragrances to their boyfriends, that's a huge market

Positively surprised TF's Tobacco Vanillle actually smells like nothing else but tobacco and vanille. Unfortunately it does remind me a pub filled with unwashed 60+ year old alcoholics though. There's something in all TF's leather and tobacco frags that reminds me unwashed clothes and body odeur.

I discovered it again. I doubt even young girls fathers wore it, so the "you smell like my dad" is no longer applicable. And the same was said for Drakkkar Noir, which due to marketing, has made somewhat of a comeback. So it's not that the frags are dated; the marketing for them is.

And even the "you smell like whisky and cigars, like a wild west saloon bar" is more intriguing to me than "you smell like coconut water"

They're the only frags that I've ever wanted to scrub off, no matter how crap the real designer or niche is (that I've tried) it's never screechingly headache inducing that also makes you want to vomit. So, I've tasted the Le Male Elixir.
Honestly, I have expected something better from such a hyped fragrance.

The first minute of the opening was simply terrible.
After that it smells like some sweet sugary mint gum for about 30 minutes. And I also wouldn't describe it as something super pleasant.
And then it's honey with lavender. Smells fine, I guess.

Grey flannel is extremely bitter-green and powdery due to the Galbanum and violett leaf, gets very floral and cold. Really enjoy it. The almond and tonkabean in the drydown was a let down, because it smells like baby powder later.

Seems like many of their fragrances get positively reviewed, but I'm apprehensive to order more due to the pervasiveness of affiliate marketing these days.

I bought the TF Tuscan Leather clone (named "Tuscano Leather") and it smells very good to me.
However, it seems to completely fade in under an hour no matter how much I spray. Also, I haven't had the chance to smell the real thing so I can't comment on the accuracy of the clone. I've tried plenty of different leather fragrances, and found a few that I like, but when we start to go into the ones where leather plays the leading role, it's often either synthetic or unbalanced.

I think Tuscan Leather has a sufficient amount leather and spice, without smelling like you're sticking your head into a leather bag, and in the cheaper alternatives, it just tends to lack complexity and balance.

thoughts on clive christian perfumes?

>> No.17864459

>>17864332
It’s easy to have a chip on your shoulder with Clive Christian knowing that he bought the historic Crown Perfumery just to gut it and use its bottles, insignia, and past honors to propel a vanity project in the luxury perfume sector. What’s worse is the nameplate makes perfumes just for the sake of being “the most expensive in the world”, with little other artistic vision than that, making the brand a gilded and diamond-studded glove to the face of perfume lovers who revered the cultural icon that was The Crown Perfumery. Having said that, I know there are bound to be some really capable perfumers passing through Clive’s halls making some stellar perfumes, since there is virtually no limit on the R&D budgets they’re given. Sadly, No. 1 (2001) and No. 1 for Men (2001) were both puff pieces of perfumery, with little else going on besides to smell overindulgent and pretentious; think a gaudy clubber dressed like Liberace and insulting the help in Shakespearean tongues and you’re close to the mark. However, 1872 for Men (2001) goes in quite a different direction, seeking to present a fragrance designed with modern sensabilities using mostly ingredients available to The Crown Perfumery back at inception in 1872 plus a few naturally-derived molecules. What does this yield exactly? Well, something like a chypre but constructed in a manner that sees it wield classic floral absolutes, aromatics, woods, and resins to convey a modern standard of gentlemanly clean for someone not into vintage perfume. Remember, proper fougères and chypres did not exist in 1872, so this is really neither, just an odd piece of “steampunk” perfumery that marries modern know-how with mostly-vintage materials, then asking an arm and a leg for the experience of smelling like Marty McFly on his way back from 19th-century Hill Valley. I’d almost say it’a worth it, almost…

Deh deeeeh

Welcome to your life
There′s no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you

Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on Mother Nature
Everybody wants to rule the world

It's my own design
It′s my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the

Most of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do, I′ll be right behind you

So glad we′ve almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world

I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the-

Say that you′ll never, never, never, never need it
