>Grand Seiko is basically a Rolex-equivalent. That's pretty obvious.
>Credor appears to be a Seiko analog to Cartier/Piaget/Chopard. Jewelry-watches foremost but also with some high horology pieces.

This. Look at pic rel for example, and tell me it's not just a knockoff Cartier Roadster.

Because you can alter many things that are related to daily wear concerns: increase power reserve, decrease range of accuracy, etc. The basic lever escapement is the same, even with 3-d printed parts or silicon balance springs, so like Formula 1, watchmakers try to take certain elements to extreme precision to see if they get an advantage.

You are all special people, never forget that. If you feel like the world is crushing you, let the pressure fall off your shoulders and focus on being strong. If you're strong, you can make a difference, even if it's just something that you perceive as being small (i.e. helping an old lady cross the street). Buy what you love, and to hell with the rest. Good luck, and thank you for being real.

It is, and it's used to record elapsed time. The great thing about Lemania 5100's is that they were 'direct drive', which meant that they were especially resistant to shock when used in extreme circumstances. That, and they used a rotating cam (which effectively is a 'column wheel' in function) and a vertical clutch, increasing the accuracy. Fucking awesome and bulletproof movement. When you combine the movement being awesome with the best legibility of the possible iterations within Omega, you get a 'Grail' version of the watch. Mine.

3) Patek (but only for pocket watches)
4) Vacheron Constantin (for thin wristwatches)
5) JLC Tourbillons
6) Omega for general collection
7) Zenith for general tech.

And the rest. I'd put Sir George Daniels above all, but his surviving watches and pocket watches are unobtainable (hence Roger Smith).

There is always something one wants that is impossible to get, so at one point it because useless to mention it. I've seen Daniels' work in the British Museum...that's enough for me. I've accepted that it's better for humanity to benefit from enjoying the pieces instead of them being held privately by me.

Fair enough, but he did ask. I am rather conservative in my tastes, and I like the re-invention and rejuvenation of British time-keeping, from an aesthetic standpoint, like the wall clocks at Greenwich. Roger Smith understands this, amongst other very important things. Lange is highest amongst popular mass-production high-horology in terms of finishing, Patek is remarkable for pocket watches (and a great value if you buy grey market), Vacheron for their design line, JLC for their movements, Omega because they speak to me, and Zenith because they know how to build watches that can do amazing things.

I understand if you don't like it Anon...but I have reasons why my list exists as is. What are you wearing today Anon? You should share it with us!

Pros: Japan will offer lower prices than almost anywhere, with general guarantees (due to federal laws that outlaw counterfeits) that mean that it's safe to buy from there.

I've currently got pic related as my watch I use every day rain or shine, dry or wet, etc.
I love that it's really minimal in size, weight, protrusions, and simplicity. It handles water like any other and has a battery life of two to three or so years (I've changed battery once on mine) What I don't like is how it looks like a cheap kids watch.

Former Omega owner here.
One reason only: I couldn’t afford a Rolex, full stop. Once I got my Rolex, I sold my Omegas within a week (to other poor bastards who wanted Rolexes.)

The people who claim to love Omega etc are simply deluding themselves as a coping mechanism. Full stop, no exceptions.

I had a insight on watches as I was thinking
There is one key feature that a swiss high end luxury brands have that cannot be replicated by shitters/casios/seikos and the like, can you guess what that is?
I will spoil it for you
They are the only watches that can accurately tell you in real time if your society is collapsing or not.
How?
Simple, if you feel at risk of being robbed/killed for wearing it, it sends a signal to you that your society is failed and you should, let's say replace your leaders
This might actually be the most valuable complication of a watch, even more so than actually telling the time.
Follow and subscribe for more insights later.
