Even “true” lemania speedies were for the most part larping as well, because there were still some minor aesthetic differences.

It also depends how moonwatch is defined. Some homosexuals will cope about how the 1861 is also a true moonwatch, even though it never went to the moon (the movement was rated but i don’t believe it ever made it into Apollo missions).

So then you get into arguments about column wheels vs cams, which is followed by arguments about how far you can deviate from the original aesthetics before it can no longer be called a speedy, etc.

In general, the whole thing has become a huge joke. Just get a mint vintage Tutima and make fun of 1861 fags about how you paid a fraction of the price for a watch that’s closer to the real moonwatches than what they have.

Yes. The only Speedies that went to the moon were cal. 321s. 105.012, 145.012, and quite possibly a few 105.003 models. The 861 movements do have space pedigree though; they were used on the space shuttle missions as well as the ISS. Other models of the Speedy have been flown by Russia (the Flightmaster, the Mark III, etc.), and astronauts have taken other versions of the Speedy like the Mark 40.

Given that more people will go to the moon soon, it'll be a moot point.

Mine is a moonwatch that didn't go to the moon, and that makes me happy.

See how silly it sounds when you talk about something other than watches? If you have a smaller wrist, just get the idea that you can wear large watches out of your head. There are tons of great watches in your size, even some chronographs, like the 38mm Zenith Chronomaster.

The default Casio screens (not MIP) look pretty shitty from any other angle than exactly like that.

On a positive display you'd be seeing grey numbers on a white field.

On a negative display the entire black field is casting a shadow at the reflector so it's gray numbers on a gray field.

Not a bad thought. Ditch the Pelagos (it's just a cope-Sub anyway, let's not kid ourselves) and get a Rolex.
But that Rolex is not a dress watch either.

Apple Watch
[Sports Rolex]
[HH Dress watch]
Would be a pretty unbeatable combo.

I don't think I can sell it anymore the thing scratches if I looked at it funny. It's fucking disappointing that a $5000 titanium watch that sits in the safe for 95% of its life has more scratches than a cheapo Chinese made one(Apple Watch Ultra) that is worn and gets banged up everyday.

In regard to the sports Rolex, I like the DJ's simply because when people see it they don't ask if its a Casio or Seiko. Like for a no-date sub people confuse it for a Seiko. The DJ is just iconic Rolex which is unmistakable plus I love the colored dials.

For the dress watch I am thinking of the JLC Geophysic, I wanted the Reverse but that thing is way too small for my wrist. It looks like I'm wearing a bracelet and I'm not gay or European. Probably looking used because there are many deals to be had in the 2nd hand market, pic related can be had for under 5k. I really like the WT version but I also don't want people to point out that it's a poorfag Patek WT.

Overall my favorite or dream watch is the Zeitwerk but that thing is a bit out of my price range atm, maybe when I retire.

Well, just be aware that once you go more expensive, you'll feel a 'pull' to maintain it. Service costs are around 500-1000 depending on the brand, so factor that in with the BB58. Beyond that cost, there isn't much to worry about.

Do you want the Seiko or Tudor for aesthetics, or more? Are there any other watches that satisfy the itch but might be in a different price range? Is the watch really just for you, or is there a secret desire to impress others? You don't have to answer, but you should think about these before spending $$$.

Pic related: some people hate this watch, some find it ugly, some find it too thick or cumbersome. I bought it because I always wanted one. I'm happy with it. If you're just honest with yourself about why you want a watch, then it'll be easier to figure out the costs of maintaining it, and also the simple question of 'is it worth it?'.

Does that help?
