Why is the USA so superior to Europe when it comes to boots?

The USA has tons of modern companies that make stylish boots for urbanites, with thick soles and contemporary, functional designs.

All we got in Europe a bunch of traditional manufacturers who still make overly classic flimsy dress boots for le Victorian gentlemen.

Just strut into a small town in Europe and you can find some random Hanz Rentner or Tomas Molnár to handwelt a pair of solid boots for you.
The concentration of good shoemaker, that still handwelt in Europe is greater than in America, hand down.
Too bad they don't advertise massively like the American so zoomers like you don't know about them.
Also, these traditional guys are so slow to catch on the Viberg clone trend, all they do is alpine style mountain boots; excellently built though.

Yeah. You should look up some charts where people upload their sizes and how they fit compared to other boots. "Manufacturer Last Sizing Thread" on le reddit and so fourth.

Asking for recommendations in this thread on Vibergs is not a good idea because it would seem Viberg have been fucking a lot of wives and so naturally there is a lot of impotent rage against Viberg on this board. Not to mention the resident White's shill that exists for no other reason than to recommend people to buy White's. He does it for free by the way so he's basically a janny.

I took some photos of my Carmina Tobacco Suede boots in Forest last (9.5 UK) which I'm planning to sell.

I wear them regularly in the office and honestly I wish I'd gone with the model that has invisible split toe stitching, but I'm just surprised at how good they're creasing at the vamp.

Normally hatch grain tends to crease like shit but either TLB does good clicking or I won the Horween lottery with this hatch grain.

I have no experience with Yanko but it's a good price

I think when Yanko hit hard times in the 90's, the family jumped ship to make Carmina and start fresh.
Then people from the same family (nephew?) jumped ship to make Meermin, which is the "made in China" bet.
And more recently some of Carmina's top people (unrelated to the family) jumped ship to form TLB.

Anyway it seems Spanish shoemaking is a small world.

Red Wing is entry level, they don't even have a midsole. It's like a budget version of high end boots for Americans.
They're cheap in the US and have a lot of stores where you can go and get the sizing right, but ordering them in Europe at a high price makes no sense.

At 400+ you can get much better stuff although they may not have the US styling.

If you need to put an insole you should have gone half a size up. I think I said so myself in the other thread. Regarding the tightness, that's normal when they are new, it will get better with use. Also bear in mind that welted shoes are stiff and harder to flex when brand new, all require a break in period, which is relatively short with Iron Rangers.

right, and you're not a man unless you wear footwear with heels and layers of leather/composite/steel to support your feet to do so much as stand and walk lest it become uncomfortable for you, gimme a break lol.

you get strengthened feet by consistently and regularly walking around without wearing footwear that contours to every bend of your foot, so that your feet are actually strengthened to function as they're supposed to...by themselves.

I wear footwear that doesn't have 'support' because 1. I don't need the support, and 2. my occupation doesn't necessitate it. I'd like more boots to be made with higher grade leather and material, but as of now there isn't much to select because the boot market is predominately consisting of the same 'arch support', heel stacked, multilayered specs that I don't want or need.

I don't need to be walking around in a cast in the name of 'support', but I do appreciate the benefits of leather footwear, like durability.

You seem to misunderstand what the break in period is. Boots with thick leather uppers and with thick leather weltrd soles are rigid out of the box, it takes a bit of time of use for the leather to mold, and become flexible enough. The thicker the leather, the more time it takes.
In the case of Iron Rangers the leather in the upper is supple and flexible, and the soles are not nearly as thick nor rigid as other heritage boots.
If that anon has a higher arch than average, then he should have gone perhaps a half size up.
But the thing is, while your feet should fit the boot out of the box, comfort comes with use.
