Also, do they ever count the elastic as part of the garment? Because that's obviously not cotton and I never understood how it works.

I think the diesel ones you speak of will have the plastic against your skin but not the ones I linked. Anyway

Another thing you have to consider is the Diesel pairs will probably have plastic in the stitching, as with the elastic band, they're not required to include that material in the percentage. Forgot to add. The only way to see if the stitching is elastic or not is sacrificing a pair to burn the stitching to see how it burns.
If it’s a super quick flash burn, it’s plastic, if it’s cotton it will be slower.
