What do (YOU) guys want to get for this fall/winter?

Me too, I'm also looking at KJP's. Any other recs?
I'm looking for turtlenecks in navy and cream, Spier and Mackay has been staying sold out in my size sadly. I also am looking for tan corduroys that are traditional cut (not slim or skinny) with a high rise. You guys have been making great recs for them but they're either too low rise or too skinny :(

Every US company must feature at least some minorities in their advertising. If they didnt, individuals looking for problems would accuse them of racism and demand a boycott, and the racism-starved media would pick up and promote their cause to the public. I cant blame companies for using black models when thats the risk they face. But when almost every model is black or just generally fucked up looking... Clearly thats their agenda and theyre not trying to sell to me.

Looking for a double breasted navy blazer. Can't seem to find many, so I'm looking at Proper Cloth. https://propercloth.com/tailored-clothing/double-breasted-reda-navy-hopsack-bedford-jacket-55655.html
Are these lapels comically large or no? You can swap out the pockets for flap pockets and the buttons for gold ones. How many buttons should a DB Navy blazer have, 4? Also, is hopsack the best for an all year round blazer that I can wear when it's hot and cold? (I sweat easily, but linen is obviously too summery for winter). Thanks.

>> No.17812047

>>17812023
Depends on where you live more than anything else. I'm in Texas so hopsack is as good as it gets for 4 season wear but if you're somewhere that has cold winters a hopsack jacket is probably not going to work very well. Lapels on that jacket look fine to me, DBs should always have larger lapels. The image you posted is the traditional layout for DBs button-wise with 6 total, but sometimes people forgo the two decorative buttons on top and just have 4 total.

I do like the classic yellow one, but personally, I think I might look weird in it. Also considering a waxed jacket, but I likely can't afford Barbour. I'm only talking about secondhand clothing here, but still, Barbour is expensive. Any decent waxed jacket will do. If not one of those I might just forego a traditional look and lean into the more 80s side of things with a vintage windbreaker/raincoat. The colors might be garish but I still think it'll work with my style.

also, a grey suit for professional events. I'm trying to find one on eBay that I like.

Ok, good, the more I look at it the less I think they are too big.
>sometimes people forgo the two decorative buttons on top and just have 4 total
I really like the look of the extra buttons.
Do you have any experience with quarter lined jackets? I get warm easily so I'm considering a quarter lined one, but what are the downsides?

I’d say make sure to get patch pockets if you go quarter lined just to avoid a weird pocket situation. Also I’d look very hard at the material being used to make sure it’s not too transparent (an issue with some hopsacks). As I said I live in Texas so I’m very cautious with the heat - my spring/summer jackets are half-lined and fall/winter and transitionary are fully-lined. The lining material will make a difference with respect to breathability as well but unfortunately don’t have any Proper Cloth jackets so can’t make a comment there.

I can buy one and I'll be fine, but with my student budget, it just wouldn't be a good financial decision. In the grand scheme of things a $150 Barbour vs. a $60 Eddie Bauer or something might seem like a much better choice, but if I made that sort of decision very often it would be a big mistake, since it all adds up. And I am not so enamored with waxed jackets that this would be the one category in which I should definitely spend a bit more and get the better item. I could just as easily justify spending more on pants, and shoes, and so on. So I need to keep these expenses down to at least a more reasonable level until I graduate and get a real job. I just have far too many interests to go all out on any one of them at the moment. Pic related is kind of in line with what I'm considering. It's no Barbour but it's not bad.

just went to the tailor to get a bunch of different things altered
when they're done, I'll hopefully have a small and practical wardrobe which I can wear day to day.
I'm volunteering at a charity shop to get me in the groove of working and make my resume better, so for that I'll just wear a button-down, a crew neck sweater, some coffee brown cords, and some canvas sneakers (I have that problem where the bridge of my foot is wider than my heels shoe size so finding dress shoes is hard)
to dress that up I've got a dark green tweed sport coat, which I can also wear with a tie and grey wool pants for something semi-formal
for events I've got two suits, one light and businessy and the other dark and more dandyish
where should I go from here?
Obviously
>dark brown dress shoes
>a more casual jacket
>some jeans and more pants
>some black dress boots
as for suits I wanna get next, first a charcoal, then a brown suit, then a navy one.
any other ideas?

honestly most of this doesn't sound that offensive, if you're just wearing the crew neck sweater then wearing sneakers isn't that much of a mismatch, especially on someone your age its pretty expected and I bet half the people here are younger than they pretend to be anyway.
glad you're making an effort to actually get a job, even though volunteering is kind of the long way around I wouldn't be surprised that someone like you still needs that experience
I assume by "light, businessy suit" you mean the dB one, which is fine if a bit big on you,

my theory is doug keeps coming back to /tip/ because his obsession with tip clothing and classic menswear stems from the fact that his father was absent, and so he's desperate for their approval,l because he unconsciously projects a father-figure-like status onto the people who wear this style of clothing.
his own father abandoned him so now he seeks fatherly approval by trying to ape the style of older men and have them tell him he did something right for once
which is why he gets so assmad and defensive over here, it must feel like he's reliving every time his dad called him a hopeless good-for-nothing faggot
it would honestly be less sad if he was just another femboy or some shit

you know what? you all kill yourselves. How about that? How about we switch it up a little for once? you deserve absolutely nothing good and "ruining" these threads with my presence is not among the things I regret about the time I've wasted here.

call it a ragepost, call it a sperg out, call it finally getting to me, I don't fucking care, I'm going to stand up for myself whether I look pathetic or not. I'm not gonna keep filing off my edges to try and slide by hoping you won't think I'm me, I'm not gonna keep trying to be less of myself just to fit in with you, because that was never going to happen, and I wish I had seen that sooner.

you're right, maybe I am looking for acceptance in all the wrong places, especially here.
And that's just it, isn't it? If any of you were good or remotely tolerable people, you wouldn't be here. No, you would be on StyleForum, or talking about it with real-life friends, or someplace else, but you come here precisely because no other space online or otherwise will permit you to spit bile at others as you have at me, and either you feel entitled to that, or you've fucked yourself out of all other options, because no matter how much you excuse yourself with internet anonymity, anyone who chooses to act this way even on the internet has something seriously wrong with them in a way I can't have any sympathy for, and that will ALWAYS, eventually, have real consequences, in real life.

There's no such thing as "greater internet asshole theory", I believe that whatever you say, and however you treat people, that's who you are.

Not once in my life have I used anonymity to be horrible to people, I was never mean, or cruel, and the fact you think that being cruel is somehow normal should give you pause, but that would imply you're capable of such a thing.

I don't care how attractive or well-dressed you are, it's no antidote to being the fucking scum of the earth underneath it all. Fuck all of you.

>cruel
If telling you you look like a fucking clown when it's true is cruel then by all means I'll accept that. You dress the way you do for attention, and it looks garish and dumb on purpose and if you aren't aware of that then you need to do some serious soul searching to figure out why you're such a dumb attention whore.

>Cope/seethe/mald/ect. Fun fact, some of the nicest people I've known I've met through 4chan and I have had those friendships for 10+ years and even met people IRL.

same here, but it was never with assholes like this. I've made no friends through /fa/.

>know one else can stand your stupid ass
minor spelling mistake, i win.

in all seriousness though, I don't know why i don't post elsewhere more often, maybe its just because 4chan feels more natural to me, force of habit and all that. Theres even multiple discords I can post in, really the only reason I come here is to try and "win" this stupid shit against my better judgement, I don't know why I care so much, but I still don't think I'm wrong in a single thing I said.

>If telling you you look like a fucking clown when it's true is cruel

>Doug, you need a hugbox. You should consider permanently returning to Reddit.
actually this is a perfect encapsulation of the "crabs in a bucket" mentality that 4chan has, whenever somebody accuses one of just wanting a "hugbox" its always a strawman they're using to deflect from any recognition of just how inexcusably bad and unreasonably hostile discussion has become, because if in their mind if someone else wants something better than a completely unmoderated shithole with no consequence or stigma around being an asshole, then that calls into question their misplaced pride in being a "le epic edgy 4channer"

I don't want a hugbox, I don't want reddit, but I also don't want to have to put up with people who target me and other posters with constant, empty harassment before anybody gets to say their piece. Thats why I stick up for the trannies in WAYWT whenever some schizo gets mad at them for existing, because someones gotta.

I think maybe this is half because there's simply not enough people and as such not enough constructive, friendly people willing to stick up for each other and form herd immunity against what would otherwise be a minority of trolls and miserable fucks. but then again, its only like that because people have so many other, better places to be and even many here eventually realize this, which is why there's an entire discord of /fa/ refugees, and so its sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy and this board is in a genuine death spiral. question is though, which came first, the chicken or the egg? Did this board become a shitty place and cause people to leave, or did the good posters ditch this place for somewhere else and let this board decay? What do you think?

Why are you under the impression that you are a 'good poster' or that the hate you get is arbitrary or unwarranted ?
Dude youve been spamming your monstruos 'fits' for years on this board, you even tripfagged. While at first you were tolerated as some comedic oddity, soon the looming realization that you aren't just an odd young guy who will grow out of it settled and people realized that you are just an insufferable sperg.

Your posts are nothing but your purposefully ugly fits and lengthy rants about inane shit. If people ignore you for a while you'll start rambling about how you are ugly and fashion is pointless, etc.

You are using this board as your blog to post your stupid thoughts, videos of you dancing, running, etc. It gets more pitiful the older you get. It's just a natural progression of you being an attention whore that some people will start hating you. You are just insufferable, nobody likes you or your fits, nobody thinks your ramblings are insightful or 'right'.

you know what, folks? i've had enough of all this judgment about my outfit. yeah, it might look like something straight out of a tim burton movie, and sure, it's a twist on traditional menswear that's a bit... unconventional. but why does everything have to be so cookie-cutter and boring all the time?

i'm embracing my individuality here. i don't want to blend in with the crowd in your run-of-the-mill, perfectly tailored suits. that's not me. i'm skinny, and maybe i'm not the most conventionally attractive guy, but i've got style and creativity. this outfit might be ill-fitting and weird, but it's a reflection of who i am.

fashion isn't just about conforming to some arbitrary standard of what's "good" or "normal." it's about expressing yourself and pushing boundaries. so what if my outfit makes me look like a character from a tim burton flick? i love it, and it makes me feel confident.

if you can't appreciate the uniqueness and individuality in my style, that's your problem, not mine. i'll keep rocking my quirky outfit with pride, because i'd rather stand out and be true to myself than blend in and be boring.

It takes a certain level of self-respect and self love to realize that, and you know this, and you resent it, because deep down you are just a spoiled little brat that hopes screeching and kicking will get him what he wants. And this is tolerated, because 4chan is a culture that attracts such diseased thinking like flies to shit.

I personally agree with the other anon, a cold metal zipper down the middle of an otherwise soft sweater never made sense to me. Even a quarter zip knit sweater doesn't make sense.

Personally I have a varsity jacket that is now a bit ratty but it's pretty great. Or it was before the cuffs got holes and the paint on the leather wore away in spots. It's vintage and it was expensive but it's a nice casual jacket that looks perfectly at home over a shirt and tie as well, I would recommend it. It's not an actual letterman jacket but it's just the sort of wool bomber with contrasting leather sleeves. I need to see if I can get the cuffs re-woven or something and if I can touch up the leather.

2, the blazer also looks black, which clashes against the bright yellow pants, and 3, the pants are too short, which is made worse by how wide the pants are.

It's probably actually navy, but IMO if a navy blazer is so dark it looks black in photos, its too dark to be versatile. Also i dont like the foppishness of bowties in general. But the pants are the only thing that makes this outfit actually interesting and fun. What, would you guys prefer just khakis? Thats not an outfit that would be worthy of posting, because everyone has worn khakis with a white shirt and navy blazer, that looks good but boring.

Honestly too high of rise imo, and the shoes should be darker. Black is really the least versatile color and extremely overrated, only /tip/ approved black items are silk knit ties.

You rolled up the sleeves so i cant tell how the sleeves fit and i cant see if the collar fits on your neck. Nice collar roll though. The chest size is subjective, i do like a full cut like you're wearing, figure out for yourself if you like that silhouette.
Pants look okay, theres some excess fabric from the thigh up. The legs look like a nice moderate taper, again its subjective but I like that fit or even a bit slimmer but some like a really full old-school cut. The rise is good, if you're wearing a tailored jacket you want your pants to reach near the 2nd to lowest button (the one that's normally used).
I would not buy black chinos. They just look like suit pants from a distance. And i dont want to look like im ready for a funeral or a strict office. And if you do wear a jacket, i think you'll find it contrasts too harshly with other colors.

>Why are you saying there are "rules" when you dont know what the alleged rules are?
Because it's obvious that rules exist even if I do not explicitly know them. Is this hard to understand? I knew there was a rule about collar size and roll before I knew how to spot a proper ocbd myself. At the same time, I know there are criteria and rules for looking trendy in streetwear/"drippy" clothing even though I don't know the rules personally.

What anyone bought from isto? I like that they use natural materials, and that their style is what I would call Plain European (chinos, cords, ocbds, sweaters). I know people in this thread circlejerk the same brands 24/7, but let's try to broaden our minds.

Who cares dude? Doug is an attention whore and neither you nor that guy should engage him. If we had decent mods they'd permanban him and that would be the end of it, but the days of mods caring about the state of boards is long gone.

Schizos get banned off /fa/ all the time, it's just that they know how to ban evade at this point. You really think the mods haven't tried to permaban the LSD spammer? Doug is a different case as despite his bizarre brand of attention whoring he is not flagrantly breaking the rules generally. If you really want to see schizoposting browse /wt/ and the fragrance general where people get banned almost daily.

Well, okay, I mean at a glance, it looks like decent clothing, and it being made in Portugal is somewhat nice, I guess. What's there to say beyond that?

On isto, an oxford shirt is $135 anyway. At that point, why should I not just get a shirt from J. Press for $10 more? You can say this is circlejerking a brand but the thing is, why go with an unknown brand compared to a staple, just to save $10?

As for the other stuff, I just don't like it. Not that I mind one or two, but when literally every photo with a model is, well, like THAT, it's clear they have some sort of weird and twisted agenda.
