TLDR: Love flowers and warm spices, hate citrus; recommend me something.

So, over the last couple of months I've been trying a shit ton of fragrances, usually a different one each day. Most of them are from this very thread. Problem is, any of them made me want to wear cologne. Some of them I liked and will definitely buy, but I don't really know where to go from here without spending a shit ton of money on testers. All perfume finders online suck since they're recommending me shit I already know I hate.

Indians love majmua attars for their complex, aromatic character and so do I, but I like it the best when it is almost done. Because, just as the slow, gentle fade-to-grey starts to happen, there is a magnificent moment where the natural sandalwood smells like – similar to some parts of Musk Lave and Jicky – idealized male skin. Meaning, skin after a hot shave, application of an old-fashioned but honest sandalwood tonic (Geo F. Trumpers, say), and then an hour of gentle exertion in the cold air.

Came back to the paper and could finally put together the astringency with what's happening on the skin - it's the powderiness. It's more pronounced on paper, but it does appear on skin. It's a barbershop powder/white proraso shaving cream type powder smell. Well done and masterfully blended as is the mode among French perfumers. Thumbs up to 1725 Casanova.

What’s your best clean/shower gel fragrance for extreme heat/humidity?
I work outdoors in Houston, TX.

I just want to smell pleasant and clean, doesn’t need to be impressive or interesting at all. Just nice, simple, clean shower gel.

I have pic rel and Jimmy Choo man ice on the way, hopefully those work but I’d like somewhere else to look if they don’t work out.

Question still stands, is my issue longevity or nose blindness? Will spraying on clothes and leaving those at home be enough to tell? Environments will be completely different.

I'm trying to build a small collection with fragrances for all occasions and weather types. I recently bought Eau Sauvage for hot summer weather, which I am quite happy with. I also got Jo Malone Fig & Lotus flower as a gift from my brother a few years back. It's not really powerful, but it is a clean and surprisingly calming scent, so I like it as well. I used to have a bottle of Givenchy Gentlemen Only when I was younger, which was also decent, if not a bit standard. Finally, I have Givenchy Pi, which I liked when smelling it in the store, but since I have worn it a few times, I'm not really a fan anymore.

Anyway, I am looking to buy a fragrance that works great for the fall/winter season. Where I live (Netherlands), it rains a lot so bonus if it can be works well with rainy weather. I am currently looking at Encre Noir, but I have no way to sample it as of yet. I am considering blind buying, but before I do that, I was wondering if you guys could suggest some other fragrances that match the profile I described. Thanks!

Tried this out recently and it was really mediocre. It also smells quite synthetic, not what I would expect from a fragrance this expensive. I also tried out Grand Soir. It was gross in the beginning, but turned into a nice toffee scent after a short while. It was nice, but not amazing.
