A Rolex means you’re never wearing the wrong watch, you’re never going to break it (even their dressy watches have 100m WR), anyone in the world can service it, the company will be around forever, and you can always sell it for whatever you paid.
It’s the safest decision.

Is this a MVMT watch? it appears to have a lot of their "design language" and parts from chinese wholesale watch manufacturers.

A couple years ago I was shocked to see MVMT finally started selling watches with indexes on them. I thought they might have turned over a new leaf but then I found they were also selling yet another chronograph with no indication of what any of the dials are even measuring.

A watch is just a wristband that tells time. Any category based on a feature like a diver bezel, racing chronograph, military field watch, etc. are all, at best, historical exaggerations. It's all marketing to make the buyer feel better about the money they are spending. Repairfags:
I've got an old quartz where the day/date can be changed when the crown in pushed in. Normally it's only when it's pulled out in the 1st position, right?
Well this crown is a little loose like ur bum and just wearing it, moving about and taking it on and off can spin the crown a little making the date shift halfway when it shouldn't be.

Is there a remedy for this that doesn't involve I dunno, shellacing the damn thing in place? Is there some kind of sticky shit that will add just a little friction in this case but won't impede me having to change the time or date?

I know this is a jab at Kurono Tokyo but from my conversations with microbrand owners, $250 isn't fair for the Miyota 9075 since even at bulk, it's roughly at $80 per movement. In comparison Seiko NH35s are around $15-20 per unit at bulk.

I think $2.2k is too much for it, but a fair price for a Miyota 90xx movement should at least be around $450-$600. Even Zelos' CEO saves the Miyota 90xx movements for his best models(Mako, Aurora) while everything else gets the shitty Seiko NH35s.

I went down the Kurono rabbit hole, and my conclusion is that it's a shit brand.

Asaoka's supposed legend is just web marketting. He's no genius watchmaker, he's never worked for Patek or anything, he's just a general designer who just made small productions under his own name, but his premium line is not that great.

For Kurono, not only the guy only uses second grade Miyotas in his shitters, but the finish of the watches is not that good.
Some people had specks of dust trapped inside the dials (which is really a shit QC level for such limited collections), and if you tell them, their customer service just tell you to fuck off because they don't do customer service outside Japan.

The only charm of the watch is the katakanas, that make it exotic, and we need more katakana watches, but when you remove this, the color combos is fucking ugly most of the time (like grey+brugundy barf).

Finally, if you go on chrono24 there's a lot of Kuronos that are sitting there, from resellers who thought they would make a profit on them because they are numbered limited series, but the fact is that they don't sell them at that price.
I predict a price drop on these. The ones who had an original price of $1100 they tried to sell them for $2000+, but it should be $800 or less.

Thanks for reading my blog.

You're not wrong, Kurono Tokyo is pretty much just playing the same game as Zelos did, albeit unlike Zelos that copied the knife meta(fancy metals used for knives are being used on case and handles instead), it's the Japanese culture instead.

What irks me is that alot of horology enthusiasts put them in entry level luxury brands instead of the microbrand territory due to the price they set for themselves. On this regard, they copied Hublot.

If they made it steel and put a good movement in it...it would just be a slightly shittier Fifty Fathoms. That would actually hurt the brand. As in, "Look how cheaply we can get to 90% of what you charge 10k+ for!"

Making it out of plastic (or whatever Bioceramic is...I think it's derived from castor beans) giving it only 100m WR with fun colors lets the normies get introduced to the brand and then later they can learn about Blancpain and maybe buy a real Fifty Fathoms.

I like that they gave it the Sistem51 movement. That's an interesting product that Swatch developed and goes to that "There's never been a quartz Blancpain since 17hundred something and there never will be." slogan.

That's my key gripe with it, with the Sistem51 movement, they're halfway there. 316L SS would've made it justifiable for me, which also would've hilariously destroy alot of microbrand options at the same time.

many years ago, when they switched from dangerous radium lume to much safer tritium, they put that on there as an advertisement.

Sistem51 makes it worse. I know how we like to meme about how the Powermatic is un-serviceable (a meme that retards actually believe is real)

But the the Sistem51 is actually un-serviceable. It was not designed to be serviced. If your watch fails under warranty, the movement is replaced. Otherwise, you're shit outta luck.

A watchmaker friend of mine tried taking one apart because he was interested in seeing what a purely machine-made movement looks like, and he couldn't take it down all the way. Certain bridges are laser welded together instead of screwed.
