I haven't spent very long in Hong Kong but I have a few thoughts. The two big factors are how long you spend outside per day, and how quality the room is.

If you spend most of your time outside the room and you're just there to sleep then it's ideal. Hong Kong or any decent city will have no shortage of cafes or restaurants or public areas within walking distance. The city becomes your lounge and kitchen, hotels become where you fuck. The people in your pics start at home most of the time, in which case it sucks.

Those rooms are actually cages, with mesh walls. They have no sun, no ventilation, they stink of sweat, nooodles, and farts. There is trash everywhere and they are far from clean. If instead you had a clean tidy pod with sun and air, them it's far more livable.

The actual size of the space isn't the issue, just what you use it for and the quality.

these are miserably small and almost certainly infested with bugs. but I do like some elements of ultracompact design. namely, I've thought it'd be nice to have a capsule-hotel style "sleeping compartment" in an otherwise spacious apartment or house. me and my girl don't use the bed except for sleep and like 1/3rd of the times we fuck, so it'd let you use the bedroom floorspace for something useful all day. plus I bet it'd be cozy to be in a compartment like that. some day they'll be a conveniently placed walk in closet I can put a skylight in or something

Yes, you have to live in or near a city if you want to have access to certain industries, experience culture, have a nightlife more varied than a few bars full of boomers, and generally be around lots of other young people. And, relating to the board, if you dont live in a city you're going to have to order all your clothes without actually being able to try them on since there's no good physical stores.
