Besides what the other guy said, why pick two at random? The store might not even have exactly those. If you don't know what smells you like to start the chart, then how would you proceed without a chart?
Usually, step 1 is always going to a store to find out which types of fragrances you might like. Give the sprayers a quick sniff, it will help you eliminate a whole bunch immediately, test a few ones on paper strips if you aren't sure about them, test your favorite ones on your skin. Return if you didn't like how they evolved. Return if you like to test more.

I bought a sample of Ganymede a week or so ago and have be slowly testing it. Very first use was good, but the last two times I’ve used it I get this ever so faint whiff is something ‘body odor’-esque (bad) in the opening that I can’t quite place. First 15-30 minutes ish, not like I’ve actually timed it. The rest is fine (and good even). Was really thinking about buying a bottle but I’m starting to have second thoughts.

Any thoughts on what I’m smelling? Fully admit I’m a noselet, but yes I showered before hand, deodorant, etc. it’s not me. It’s something in the fragrance and I just don’t know what it is.

Oh, if you‘re a guy, especially a young one, Jicky is not great. It has leather to it, making it raunchy, but it is also a very old fragrance. It can work if a daring girls wears it, but on a young guy it may very well smell too boomery, like Knize ten.

If you want to appear fun, rich and sexy and plan to get girls, I would stay away from the ones that are too fresh and clean, stuff like Sauvage, Aventus or Bleu de Chanel. They seem a bit cold and standoffish. Instead you can try something more inviting, yet still classy: Try out Chanel Egoiste or Platinum Egoiste.

I'm happy, between this and bottles I already own I've got my "safe" work frags covered for the foreseeable future, now I can focus on picking an interesting niche frag every few months. I've got tobacco, leather and rum covered (Tobacco Oud, Vanille Havane, Gold Leather), I've got a decent collection of original formula vintages ( Antaeus, Korous, Iquitos, Eau Sauvage, Caron Pour on Homme, Polo) now I'd like to explore Vetiver and floral frags. Sauvage blogpost: I avoided Sauvage EDT when it first came out because I was a snob.In retrospect the hatred of Sauvage due to popularity harkens back to the early 2000s on Basenotes when everyone would trip over each other to shout how bad aquatics were and how the industry was ruined by them and blah blah blah blah.Buddy of mine gave me a bottle of Sauvage EDP, started wearing it on and off, almost through the entire bottle now. Got decants of EDT and Parfum, ended up getting full bottles of each.
I'd rank the EDP at the bottom of the 3 when it comes to smell, but if you have a small collection it's the most versatile and the one to buy. Sometimes the "best" one isn't the most logical choice. The EdT and Parfum are much better, the EDP is too much of a compromise in vision and tones down the citrus/pepper of the EDT while lacking the depth and smokiness of the Parfum. If you really like this style, there's no reason to own all 3, just get the EDT and the Parfum. My bottle of EDP is starting to run low, I won't be replacing it.
Smell: 1- Parfum 2-EDT 3-EDP
Versatility: 1-EDP 2-EDT 3-Parfum
Performance: 1-EDT 2-EDP 3-Parfum

I really love it, but it's my first experience with these kind of fragrances (real castoreum and natural oud) and maybe I can get something as interesting for less.

I was looking at some of the bortnikoff attars , and they look like a relatively cheap way to learn what I like or not (also ask for prin and bortnikoff samples in Ecuacion with the order) but what's puts me off from it is:

-the way that you have to use the attars sounds quite fucked up, like, you are either dabbing or swiping the stick it over your skin, doesn't that has huge risk of contaminating the oil? And with even more risk considering that it's natural oud oil..

-the storage. Natural oud and ingredients get degraded over time, or at least they change. Should I put them in the fridge to slow down the process of aging?

Oh great, another fragrance with currently popular "clary sage" note. The new Armani Code Parfum, the new Acqua di Gio EdP as well as the parfum, Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Coral Fantasy, Ralph's Club, Y EdT, Montblanc Legend Red and Explorer Platinum, a whole bunch of cheap shit like Azzaro Sport EdT or even CR7 Origins include it. If you've smelled them, it becomes easy to single out. That stuff must be cheap as fuck because they've started throwing it into every designer release below a certain price. Some have even tried to hide it as just "lavender", but once you smell it, you realize it's that clary sage note. Often the fragrances include both notes as that clary sage chemical smells ambiguous in that regard.
This is the state of current perfumery. Just sad.

Also with info from the customer support corroborating it. This typically meant that they were trying to move it from one line to another or change bottles. Guerlain has been confused as fuck for the last decade or two. The best thing they could do is to appoint Patricia de Nicolai to take care of that burning dumpster. Her NYI is one of my favorites. I have tried many frags with tea notes because I like tea, but the problem is that most of them don’t last very long or have too much or a much stronger note that masks the tea. Another Anon mentioned Russian Tea which is quite nice, a more “western” style of tea if that makes sense. If you want a more Asian tea, try Armani The Yulong. It’s not the best in performance because it’s a tea frag, but it is really nice, masculine enough to wear as a straight male without coming across like a fairy.

How do I properly spray and apply parfum (the strongest concentration besides elixir)?

I alternate Chanel Bleu and Dior Sauvage when going out. I spray it on my wrists (used to do it above my elbow), between my chest and neck, and half sprays behind my ears.

I don't know if I am doing it correctly, I can never smell myself, unless I spray a little bit on my clothes. I don't know if I am spraying too much, or if people can even smell me.

I also do a single slower spray than a fast spray, I feel like I can aim better and apply to a wider area like this. Am I breaking the scene by doing this?

I just spray my shirt a few times, something like a clean fresh scent that doesn't last like 6 sprays.

Also I spray my shoulders so I don't immediately go nose blind, like you do when you spray on your chest.

L‘heure bleue extrait. It‘s vanilla, but not sweet at all.

the reason you can't smell it is probably because you spray too close to your nose and your brain tunes out the smell
if you want to avoid that, spray the back and sides of your neck instead of the front neck area

Does anyone have any recommendations for independent chink brands that are available internationally?
