Is this fit neofolk? I wore it while gardening and feeding my chickens today. My hand is in an awkward position because the photo is a mirror selfie that I’ve cropped and I’m holding my phone upto take the selfie. Would normally wear this with a pair of brown derbies but it was quite muddy so I wore it with hiking boots instead today.

I’m tempted to think the way I dress could be described as neofolk. I’ve been told I look like a shepard and asked if I’m celebrating oktoberfest because of the way I dress (I wasn’t in tract, just wearing a white linen shirt, olive green shorts and aforementioned derbies).

I'm going to define neofolk so in the future there is no doubt what it is. Folk / Volk being a german word it is meant to represent Germany's countryside, it blends militaria with hiking or academic clothing, it often uses a mixture of earth tones, camo allowed better if they are camo patters from Germanic cultures: Austria, Switzerland, who knows Sweden & Denmark too if they fit. They have a homely cozy vibe to them when they are more "academic" styled & more military when its more about hiking but still retains that Germanic forest aesthetic. You could call this NeoVolk if you want and Folk could be a version for your country and make a term that appeals more broadly outside of German history & environments.
