How do you know which collar type suits you? Are the face shape guides reliable? I have long neck and oval face

Collar shape vs face is a minor consideration that is massively over exaggerated by people desperate to appear knowledgeable by appearing as authorities.
The primary consideration should be the formality of your fit, the thickness of your tie if your wearing one, the type of sport coat or suit (if worn) etc.

Put it this way. There are no collars that will perfectly frame a face if you're fat, but even if they did the positive of that would potentially be out weighed by the negatives of how off it would look by clashing with other elements.

You don't need to over complicate it:

No suit, sport coat or tie: Button down looks good, followed by classic.
Sport coat no tie: Button down, classic
Sport coat with tie: Button down, classic
Suit with tie: Conservative cut/English/American : Classic. Italian: Spread, large spread
Suit without tie: Don't.

There. If you follow that you'll be fine.

Unless you have freakish proportions you should just always wear classic, spread, button down, or large spread collars.

I think rounded collar looks to feminine and I don't like spread collars, I always wear classic/slight spread with a suit and button down with blazer or by itself.
