After the success of the previous femanon thread, I'm thinking of creating more threads to cater to other niches

I have a question regarding necklines in women's historical fashion

i thought that in western society then, modesty and prudishness was highly valued
but i see so many paintings of elizabethian and georgian women showing cleavage

what were the views of cleavage at these times?
