Skinny jeans took off because the cut of jeans in the 00s were so fucking sloppy there had to be a reaction to it. I remember my family only having money to afford Old Navy when I was in middle/high school. I hated that shit, the jeansn always had either a paperbag texture to them or a felt weirdly too soft. The shirts were always some weird jacked fit too.

But what I really hated is how the jeans drapped over your shoes so they would drag under the fucking shoe and look fucking scust, so when I got out of high school, started making my own money and found better places to shop I moved to skinny/straight taper and never looked back
