Is Chanel's Allure L'homme extreme sport considered trashy / crap? I'm a pleb that's trying to branch out from Eau Sauvage and I really enjoy the smell of Allure. I can't tell if it's also a "Macy's male perfume section" sort of fragrance and don't know if it has a reputation like Sauvage.

I need some summer/summer evening recommendations, also a newfag. I like the 2017 Eau Sauvage Parfum its citrus might be a bit too much but I love its bases notes, so im looking for something less citrusy maybe like the 2020 dior homme which I tested once and I think I liked it? Encre Noire Sport (good fresh woody fragrance with vetiver. bad performance but cheap)
Terre d'Hermes EDT (a bit like Dior Homme 2020 but more spicy, more earthy, with sweeter citrus)
Bois Imperial (more unique green woody spicy fragrance, very strong performance)
Grey Vetiver (classic green vetiver fragrance, on the soapier side)

Dior Homme is also a good pick, it might have something in common with ESP, because Demachy really likes using that Elemi resin note

You're already overthinking it. If you like the smell, nothing should stop you (other than a fragrance you'd like even more). So if you don't want to test more things and like it well enough, you should buy it.

Going to a store and testing more things would be a good idea. The offerings from Dior are already a good start, so I'd suggest branching out into Chanel, especially Bleu de Chanel Parfum and Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. The former will give you more of that DH2020 vibe, with iso-e super and lots of woods, the latter has that fresh and musky vibe you're looking for. Both of these are also absolutely hated in these threads, so be aware of that. Other than that, Voyage d'Hermes Parfum is a good fresh and musky fragrance, although it has a lot of citrus, which gets replaced by a bitter tea note in the drydown. Might be too "daytime", though.

In any case, you need to take your time. It's the same as going to a store to try on clothes. Sure, you can buy online, but you can never know if it fits you until you've put it on, and then you might have to send it back. For me, it works the same way. I usually smell the sprayers until I find something interesting, I test it on a paper strip to see if it stays interesting, and if it stays interesting, I test it on my skin. Only then I buy anything. With clothes, I select my preferred colors and designs in my size first, hold them on my body to see if they are as described by their size, put them on, walk a few steps or check if any of my limbs are limited by them, and only then I buy anything.
Don't rush things, just take it easy. It's not something you have to do each week, so take your time on the day you do it.

I usually think that Chanel frags smell inoffensive and well-blended/high quality, but the vanilla in AHSEE smells plasticy and strangely harsh. It also is just a nonsensical fragrance. I find the kenzos to be fairly muted with some coconut like note (its not coconut, but something that's similarly textured). Most aquatics ive tried are just really high pitched and synthetic smelling. I'd like a nice one too, but haven't been able to find it. Aqva and its flankers get talked about a lot. They're really screechy, but you could try that. I'm going to get a sample of Sel-Marin from heeley.

Unfortunately I didn't get murkwood and dead writers, but they put in Spring Ambience and A La Folie by Strangers Perfumes, Shangri La by Hiram Green, Oli by Enrrico Buccella, and In Love with Everything by Imaginary Trannies.

To be honest I'm not sure how to use the vial and also how to sample these little bottles. I'm scared of wasting the frags if I just drip them on the paper. Maybe these are supposed to be tested on skin instead. Like flipping it on my wrist to get a little spot wet.

is it weird if i really, really, REALLY enjoy my cat's scent. almost every time i see him, i would pick him up, bring his body close, and just inhale as much as i can. it's like a drug. if i could explain it, the scent itself has top notes of cinnamon and chocolate, so a very sweet kind of aroma, and then you are met with a lower, woodsy, almost nutty middle note, and then finally a much more musky, animalistic base note from it being well, a living cat. this i would describe as the fragrance of my cat's fur, which he is always constantly grooming and cleaning. goodness, i gotta catch a whiff right now. i can't get enough of this stuff, it just smells so nice

Bought pardon and a 5ml megamare decant from them a few days ago and also got the same as you. Also I'm basque so the stamp on the sample box was in basque, they are really kind and I love them too, great store.

The empty vial is just a travel vial if you wanna fill it with whatever.

The samples just open one, put it on your wrist and dab on it without spilling it. That way you can use them for like three of four times. Great way to test them to be honest, I might like them more than 2ml decanpts since you get so many different ones this way.

I still love the original Kenzo Homme like how I remember it before any reformulation, it was a very distinct fragrance that had no match and burned your nostrils with its opening
This EDP smells like a lighter version of Kenzo Homme mixed with One Million EDP, lasts pretty long too
Definitely getting a bottle soon.
Other testers I've tried:
-Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, nice for a date but it does smell a bit like you just worked all day in the kitchen making vanilla desserts
-Mancera Instant Crush & Cedrat Boise didn't like them, they both smell light and synthetic but somehow seem to last a bit on my skin.
Red Tobacco is really good and masculine, light and smoky and lasts all day.

Aventus is generally a fine scent. Same as many other Creed scents. HOWEVER,
Creed passes off poor quality control as 'batch variation' and 'a sign of it's artisanal nature'. This is, of course, bullshit, and why you shouldn't spend $300 on it. Add in the fake history about the company, and a very particular picture starts to emerge.

Prada Amber Pour Homme is the most baby powder-like fragrance I have ever smelled. Neither CAHSEE nor Canoe come close to that stuff, although both have quite some powdery aspects to it. In the end, it probably also depends on what baby powder smell you remember. Bois and Cade: the cedar smell is very nostalgic to me, my dad must have worn a cedar heavy perfume in the late 90s early 2000s (any one know what this might be? Does boss bottled have a prominent cedar note). Like most of the Jeanne en Provence perfumes it's a simple thing of little substance, but nice enough even though the dry down is a little sweet for my tastes.

Lavande and Vetiver: this one's weird, it's got a mix between a burnt rubber and a mushroom soup smell, with just a hint of lavander. I'll have to wear it some more to see what I think.

Verviene cedrat: slightly artificial lemon scent, quickly starts smelling like lemon sherbets. Seems like it would be pleasant for summer/high heat

Lin Blanc: sweetened laundry. I find it slightly nauseating at the moment, maybe this will change with time.

My thoughts and reasoning are that I got a very good price and that it smells very good. Would have gotten a Tauer 02/05 instead but I didn't like my online store options and I didn't want to wait. This I got from my new local store that's 5 minutes by foot. A qt 3.14 works there too.

For full bottles I only have Fathom V, T&M, City on Fire, Encre Noire, one cologne, and this Rien. Also a Joop that my aunt gifted me that I'm trying to get rid of, but nobody wants it. Joop is trash. I have around a hundred samples though. Wondering what I should buy next. Probably Hermann and Flower Boy, and after that I don't know. Maybe a Tauer. Maybe a Pineward. Maybe an Apoteker Tepe. As for when I'm planning to wear the Rien, well literally whenever I feel like it.

Tested it at the store and liked the scent. Bought a sample and it didn't last. It's very obviously a clone of Ambre Narguile, but it's actually cheaper than that one (and available). Unusual for a clone house like PdM to produce something for less than the original.

It doesn't work because a lot of it is freshly produced by bacteria, plants and other interactions of e.g. rain and temperature. Capturing it in a fragrance might only give you the same smell for 15 seconds.
