I really want a gold dress watch, and have a one in mind. It's a sizable investment.

I love it and it would likely become my daily wear, but it doesn't have lume like many dress watches don't.

Am I going to regret spending that money on a watch without lume? I do really love lume.

If you are like me you will regret it, especially if you intend to daily it. Many times I have avoided putting on my lumeless dress watch because I had to sleep at a friend's house, or in general I could forsee a situation where I could have needed to read the time in the dark. So basically I wear it only if I know I'll get home before sunset (because of my survival boy scout autism I need to always be able to tell the time on my wrist, even if I generally carry a phone).
As unpopular as it might be, I now consider lumeless watches irreparably incomplete and I'll never buy another one. I think lume can be incorporated in dress watches without disrupting their elegance too much.

(question from last thread)

To my knowledge, premium PVD now gets a patina after years and years like plated gold. It doesn't flake like PVD from the 80s or whatever.

Picrel is not even premium and for my watch it would only be the crown, so i'm ok with this kind of patina years down the line.

Idk but if I had to take a guess, I'd say significant portion of those pushing sub 40 mm sizes indeed are wristlets. Speedmaster makes me salty, not your preferences.
Gmt and sub are fine watches, but the fact that your ideal collection is gmt, sub and speedmaster tells me that you in fact do not like watches, but having that label of a collector. You found 3 of the most bland looking pieces that have some kind of story behind them and that you dont hate the look of and claim those 3 are your absolute goals? You can lie to me and yourself all day, but you do not like watches.
Term npc reqlly applies here. I have nothing against you. Majority of watch wearers are like you. My only gripe is with omega speedmaster. In your world that would be like boeing removing fbw systems from 737 and charging it 4x the original price after the inflation adjustment

the seiko jubilee is comfortable but that's all it has going for it. the speedtimer has an awful clasp and the collars for the pins are awful. i ended up throwing it on a rally strap. debating on buying the super-o from strapcode or something from uncle seiko for it.

They didn't used to be like this, by the way. I've got 80s seiko bracelets that are great, even if they are just basic folded links. Anything with a collar system is junk.
