2023 is not it, but will summer 2024 carry with it the return of miami vice core?

2023 is already it for me, going shopping for a linen jacket today

>> No.17651482

same, 2023 for me. Make sure to get a pattern or texture. It's not only the material, but also the playfulness that made it so cool

W2C a looser kind of fit like OP's pic, do you know? Crockett often wears very drapey unstructured jackets that look comfy as hell and casual yet stylish

possibly thrift stores, also shirt or suit makers (m2m/bespoke), but I can also imagine some jap shops to have something similar and I'll elaborate why:
the current ready to wear stuff will look different.
The jackets on the show have a closed back (no vents - there are exceptions even in the show, though) and the quarters are finished nearly rectangular, which looks very much like a shirt but with a suit lapel and collar. Then, the button stance is also rather low, and they are wearing high rise pants.
That's why I recommended custom made shirts/suits, they will allow you to change some design elements. Japanese fashion could be an idea, because some of the jackets are similar to haori jackets and who knows what their fashion trends are right now, it could be worth looking into that.
For ready to wear the closest could be some casual linen sport coat with a jetted pocket or flap pockets (you can tuck the flap into the pocket) and a central vent. If the shoulder fits you well you could try a size larger than you're normally wearing. Unless it's all slim fit your normal size should be good enough, though.

Well fuck, sounds nonexistent.
I went to a department store dedicated almost solely to menswear and found exactly ONE (1) linen jacket and it was absolute dogshit. It's over bros.
I'm going to berlin in a few weeks, any good stores there?

Tubbs was more effay than Crocket.

He was effay as fuck but wearing those suits every day in south florida must be absolute hell holy shit I never understood that

>> No.17651987

>>17651770
It's weird because their clothes somewhat reflect their character, but on the other hand in the pilot episodes Tubbs is the one going full rogue, and later on he continues wearing business stuff without any indication that he is more stuck up or following the rules.

Honestly when i was at a wedding suit fitting the other day men’s warehouse had nice linen jackets

Am europoor, never heard of that.
Found something pretty good on zalando though, might cop.
Stone or plain white color? White is more 80s but maybe screams a bit too much and I'd need to also get matching pants

>>17651738
Look online. Etsy tailors might have what you want.

>> No.17652901

>>17652847
Stone is more versatile, also goes will with all the pastels, better than white. I checked the stuff and most of if looks short with high button stance. You might want to try both an R and L size, e.g. of "Next TAILORED FIT STANDARD - Suit jacket" in light grey. They are a pretty cheap brand however, only checked their shoes and I wouldn't expect too much quality from their jackets, but it can be a start.

Good recommendation btw, there are some french shops that sell vintage designer sport coats. Pay attention to the shipping cost!

I like the loose shoulders and it looks like it'll look good worn unbuttoned. For the price I'll probably just buy it

Not sure how tall you are, but this one is cut really short. A regular jacket would be 3-5 inches longer, and the sleeves would be 1 inch shorter, if you look at the sizing detail

You've got a point, we'll see. I did order a larger one and it's easy to return if it doesn't work well

Other than Magnum PI, a lot of 80s TV makeup departments had a really hard time with black actors. You see a lot of awkwardly blue tone faces once you start noticing it

It arrived. Color is way nicer than the pics show, fit is also not bad, although the thing definitely does look like it cost $100. Might give it a few wears and return it after once I have a better idea of what I want from it.
>>17653684
Yeah I checked out some of the Armani catalogue and they still sell these kind of jackets. This whole aesthetic originates in Italy.

Are there any decent cheaper alternatives? I can't justify dropping $600 on an Armani jacket unfortunately, as much as I love them. I assume going bespoke would also end up in this sort of ballpark... Anything around $200-$300 in europe?
