Also, I've never recommended anyone do this, but maybe actually wash your hair more often. Generally the reason people with oily hair have oily hair so often is because they're using too much shampoo. Using shampoo cleans the oils out of your hair, so then your body produces more oils to compensate for what you're depriving your scalp of. Maybe if you strip the oil more often then your hair will compensate and produce more oil.
You might have to put up with over washing your hair for a while, and it won't look very good, but I'd say it's worth a shot. Maybe wash it every other day for a few months and then go to every 4 days if you get the desired effects.

I want to try to improve my boring long hair and also there's a lot of it that gets in my face, and I feel it's way too tricky for guys to pull off bangs well, so I was wondering about this as a sort of compromise.

I've been on fin/min for about a couple months now. The good news is that I've noticed small, fuzzy white hairs on my hairline, which I'm pretty sure is a sign that it's beginning to work. I have a condition called folliculitis decalvans, which causes my immune system to attack my follicles, causing scarring and permanent hair lose.
I recently got a haircut with a 6 on top (like I usually do) and got nauseous at seeing how much of my scalp is visible from the front. Up until now I thought it was just effecting small spots on the back. So my hair 'pattern' is rapidly thining at the front/top and small bald spots in the back.
I think for now if it grows out, it won't be as noticeable in the front (although I could tell something was up before I got it cut). But between short buzzcut and shaving it bald, is there a big difference between the two?

tldr: buzzcut or full shave so i don't feel sick looking at myself in the mirror.

I like the long hair but I'm biased towards that. If you're not particularly keen on having it that long again then don't bother, the shorter hair suits you great anyways. When you grow it back out to like yesterday though you should get a cleaner style with your hair pushed back off your face more instead of the 2010 Bieber mop. Buzzcut also suits your face well but looks better from the front than from the side. Also you don't look like you're balding.
