I think 1016 was the point where it really became what we know today as the explorer in materials and the dimensions. The previous models had bubble backs and they used radium for lume, and the 1016 was where they started transitioning away from using gilt hands and dials. It’s extremely difficult and tedious because of how precise you need to be with the tolerances. The only example I know of where they are aligned is the AP Royal Oak, and they engage in some trickery (it’s actually a casing they make look like a screw) because even THEY can’t do it with real screws. If screws bring misaligned triggers your autism just don’t buy watches with visible screws. They won’t fix it.

Not centered. The bezel has some play for easy precision alignment/ accidental disalignment. But the in general , the whole marker alignment is surprisingly good for a non lx series seiko. The sapphire has a dropping outer rim and adds some distortion effect, which is kinda cool in bright daylight in terms of lightplay.
