Look up what selvage denim is, you can just flip up the hem and look yourself to see if its selvage or not.
Levis 501 selvage (you keep posting pictures of 540s btw not 501s) are made with selvage denim.
Levis cone mills denim jeans are made with denim from cone mills which may or may not be selvage.

Companion denim offers custom inseams. I think some shops don't like to hem before a customer try the jeans on because it's too easy for people to accidentally end up with capris if they screw up the shrinkage.

they're pretty nice man and the price was great (bought them in store in japan for under 200 bucks). I got their 14oz regular fit, definitely on the heavier side for 14oz and the fit is basically 501ish but wider and a little roomier in the top box. Only down side is a zip fly (I prefer buttons). They're hinoya's house brand but I believe they're manufactured by warehouse so I guess they're similar.
I don't have a good fit pic but here's an old pic. unfortunately I'm redditmaxxing the cuffs because a) no one local does chainstitching and b) I wanna wash them to see if there's any shrinkage before I get them hemmed (I think they're one wash but I don't trust that shit).

I got a couple of pairs on sale at ~$80 each, and I ended up donating them. Didn't really like the fit, a couple of seams blew right away, and the button fly was obnoxious and kept popping loose. They were very stiff, and I think that mixed with the fit issue to cause the other ones. Maybe I would have liked them more if they'd had more room in the hips and thighs or broken in a little easier. Levis shrink to fit 501 jeans are made in 25 waist / 38 length at the extremes, look around on country western wear websites, should run about $50 a pair.
Otherwise you might have luck with Japanese jeans, 25 is a bit of a strech but they usually offer a few sizes below 30 and they usually all come in a 34in inseam because japs love the monster cuff look.
Actually i just looked, wrangler 13mwz is offered in small waists with long ass inseams. That's a high waisted bootcut jean that's slim in the seat and thigh. If you don't like the lighter blue color just get a packet of idyepoly and overdye them black.

eating disorder and i do speed, with the occasional H binge. i really don't have a problem with gaining or losing weight.
it's easier to track weight gain in jeans rather than wool trousers which are really forgiving. i do some modelling this is why i wanna go back to jeans to make sure I don't gain weight (gained 4 kilos the last 5 months and I didn't really notice, lost 5 kilos so im down to 55 kilos now.
>inb4 why don't you keep jeans from shows or campaigns?
most of the time you don't get to keep it and if i'm paid in clothes I really don't go for jeans. plus most of it low waist shit. although celine dylans were real nice.

re: eating disorder and speed
unironically it's just part & parcel of the business. my big issue is alcohol and eating junk food when im on the brink of blacking out. when I was younger it didn't matter because my metabolism hadn't slowed down yet. im almost 24 so i'll last a season or two tops for runway and maybe a few more for campaign stuff.

sure, I've got some SLP garments and a pair of dior homme jeans, but they were bought eons ago. One shirt I got for free actually because they had double samples, docked from my pay but at a really low cost, also smart because that way my mother agency got a smaller cut

Ah. You should wear them as much as you possibly can, even when it’s hot. Being hot is not the problem as wearing jeans is nothing new, rather the not washing as long as possible part is what worries me. Up until now I wash my jeans every month or two and I cycle through two or three jeans a week to give them time to air out.
That said, I plan to wear them for around 25 hours a week and do my first wash on late November.

>> No.17617022

>>17616500
not washing them probably won’t be an issue. I’ve worn raws all through the Australian summer not washing them. You can only smell them if you really put your nose into them and they just smell like ass sweat lol. No one else is going to be able to tell. You can also soak them if you’re worried which is less harmful than washing. That being said, wash every 2 months or so if you’re sweating a lot so the fabric doesn’t get damaged.

Regardless, there’s nothing even wrong with washing raw denim. Not washing them gives you those really high contrast fades/whiskers/honeycombs, but they will still fade if you wash them very frequently. You’ll end up with a “vintage” fade, which is a uniform fade all around with some whiskers and fading to the knees. Denim elitists shunned vintage fades for a long time but nowadays a lot of denim elitists wash frequently to get a vintage fade

>> No.17617072

>> No.17617113

>>17617072
Soaking is typically just dunking the jeans in a bucket of cold water for 30 minutes or so, then hanging them up to dry
Washing is typically inside out in the washing machine on the gentile cycle with thenspin cycle turned off then turning them back rightside out and hang drying, dont put em in the dryer they will get big creases on them. The reason people like to turn off the spin cycle is because it makes the jeans loose less blue color when washed.
If you wash them carefully the way i describe you can get away with washing them more often.
Brands typically say six months because people will put the jeans through a full wash a dry cycle with strong detergent and they will loose a bunch of color.

Im currently working on a pair of Japanese denim lee 101 riders and they are pretty nice overall. No complaints about qc or construction other than i wish they had felled side seams, im not totally sure what's historically accurate but im pretty sure the old lee 101b models had them.
