From what I read online, the material itself is considered high quality and looks luxurious and stylish, but the downsides are it gest damaged easily and you have to worry about water and stains.
Also, are there different grades of suede leather? I see Thursday suede boots for like $150, meanwhile a brand like Allen Edmonds sells similar looking suede boots for over $400

Thursdays are trash, allen Edmonds are overpriced and made nearly as cheaply as Thursdays.

Suede is actually incredibly hardy in regards to real damage like scuffs, tears, scraped etc. You can bring beat to shit suede shoes back to life with a brush and cleaning, watch YouTube videos. The problem is discolorations, not exactly stains but you'll see suede weather with time.
Basically suede is amazing for more casual boots and shoes but not great if you want a formal shoe that you want to keep looking like it's fresh out of the box for years.

Check out Grant Stone boots BTW, slightly less expensive than Allen Edmonds but blows them away quality wise.

it's just leather, senpai. it's the fluffier, looser fibers that are shaved off of smooth leather but still decent enough not to be chopped up and glued into "genuine" leather.
some leathers are nicer than others, it's all up to the tannery.
there's a similar leather called roughout, which is acutally just inside out leather with the smooth side inside. heavy duty stuff though, really only used on work boots.
there is also nubuck, which is cheaper bits of smooth leather that are sanded to make them fuzzy.

Do not.

>Suede clothing and shoes
Very effay but requires more care and maintenance when it comes to dirt, oil, scuffing and wet rainy weather -- *stain and waterproof spray is must*.

Suede is far less durable and wears away easily from scrapes and scuffs.

The only advantage of AEs are the wide range of lasts and widths/sizes available to you. At 50% off they're not a bad shoe, but you'd be insane to pay full price, and if you're purchasing Goodyear welted shoes, you may as well pay that little bit extra to get a well constructed pair that will last a long time. AEs are made in the Dominican Republic.

Suede is the worst part of the leather hide, it won’t age well and will deteriorate very fast. It’s only an option for sneakers.
If you want the suede look, search for roughout leather, that’s the same good leather as usual from the top leather of the hide but with the smooth part facing the inside.

>> No.17590624

Like all leathers suede comes in varying qualities.
If you want the best of the best, look for Charles F Stead suede, especially their 'Janus' variety.
These are unsplit hides, so you get the entire hide, but the suede side facing outwards.

Carmina's normal suede (not repello, vogue etc) is CF Stead 'Janus' suede. Enzo Bonafe also offers Janus suede for a small upcharge.

Get a proper suede brush and a suede cleaner and you're fine. Suede just takes a bit of extra work to keep nice but it's a fine material otherwise
