If I get my ears pierced how long will it be until I can actually wear normal earrings? I'm absolutely obsessed with drop earrings but I remember reading some shit about having to leave in studs in your ears for them to heal right for like 3 months and I can't say I quite like studs.

You can literally switch your piercing studs out for whatever earrings you want to wear as soon as you have your ears pierced.

The 6 week to 6 month timeframe they give you for wearing your piercing studs is because piercing studs are a wider diameter than normal earrings so if you wear them for the recommended time period you end up with nice round holes which can hold any earring with no difficulty. If you switch out your piercing studs straight away you may find it hard to put bigger earrings in.

The best thing to do is keep the piercing studs in at night and switch out to the drop earrings you like during the day.
